BRANCH ZERO

In morte vita est— IndexxNodei's current description

Combing through the group, the themes of death, decay and ethereal planes of existence are prevalent through its members and their games, of which there are plenty, giving hunters plenty of material to piece together ideas on the existence and meaning behind BRANCH ZERO.

Biography

Similarly to other abstract myth groups, the meaning behind BRANCH ZERO isn't properly known and is difficult to infer from the games of its members alone. Thematically, all of the games do have one definite similarity, that being the concept of death and deterioration, and the afterlife to an extent, being very much prevalent, whether it be relating to the path to the afterlife for people or relating to urban architecture and its gradual dilapidation by the forces of nature. These themes can lead to a plethora of different kinds of theories, branching into different areas of real mythology, in order to understand the meaning of BRANCH ZERO.

One potential theory is that BRANCH ZERO is the final branch of a "World Tree" where the concept of finality thrives. This would make the group a holding bay for those on a path to their final destination in reality, with each rank representing a branch closer to this area. More information on this can be found in the theories section.

History

BRANCH ZERO was created on the 23rd of July, 2023. The first three members of the group were its owner, IndexNodei, DyingintheCold and Byufcha with the rest of the members being added to the group at later dates. The group was initially found by TEARFULM4SK and D3tectiveBailey after they were friended by IndexNodei on the 25th of July and decided to investigate further, inevitably coming across the group in the process.

The group was silent for a few months until, judging by a teaser image posted by IndexNodei on his Twitter account^[1], the next member, sebjuct, was accepted into the group, occurring on the 25th of December, 2023. Hunters were quick to catch on with Avlaboba sending the game, now public, into a few discord servers just a day later on the 26th.

Shortly after the addition of sebjuct, a fifth member was accepted into the group, supposedly on January 5th, 2024, according to IndexNodei's reposting of their tweet, called Jodthes. Hunters were even quicker this time, with the same Avlaboba locating the tweet from Jodthes within 26 minutes of its posting before sending it to the same servers as he sent sebjuct.

BRANCH ZERO had a short break from adding new members for roughly a month and a half before adding their 6th, and currently their final, member, reenoiPehT to the group on, presumably based on the tweets of IndexNodei, the 24th of February. It is likely that he had been noticed a day prior by TEARFULM4SK after being contacted over discord by him and, thus, quickly found to have been in the group upon his acceptance. Notably, reenoiPehT has existed long before BRANCH ZERO, making it the first myth within the group to not have been created solely for it.

IndexNodei	IndexNodei is the creator and the current owner of BRANCH ZERO. He is currently ranked in the "ZERO" rank and is the most popular member of the group, known for his unprecedented idea of a procedurally generated trigger myth along with his ownership over the group in general.
reenoiPehT	reenoiPehT is the sixth member to have entered BRANCH ZERO and is currently ranked in the "ONE" rank. He is known for his vast and monochromatic stud game which utilizes creatively placed touch triggers and fairly innovative methods of indication.
Jodthes	Jodthes is the fifth member to have entered BRANCH ZERO and is currently ranked in the "TWO" rank. His game is similar to other, classic trigger myths in both gameplay and style, such as Bobbys_Here, and seems to have been strongly inspired by the myth Ukalante in both building and also lore, implementing themes of man-made devastation over nature and the fight against it.
DyingintheCold	DyingintheCold is one of the three debuting members of BRANCH ZERO and is currently ranked in the "THREE" rank. His game features a wooden cabin in the middle of a raging blizzard with points of lore around the map to find and a diurnal cycle where ghastly spirits manifest at night to haunt whoever may be visiting the cabin.
sebjuct	sebjuct is the fourth member of BRANCH ZERO to have been accepted in and is currently ranked in the "THREE" rank. His game takes place in a multistory prison building where the hunter must find bodies during brief periods of darkness to seemingly be "processed" in a way.
Byufcha	Byufcha is one of the debuting BRANCH ZERO members and is currently ranked in the "FOUR" rank. Notably, the account was made in 2008. His game features a tiny sample of what is seemingly a city which is progressively broken down and dilapidated with each trigger found, being taken over by nature.

Encoding Failure	Encoding Failure is the only game of IndexNodei. The game takes place in a dark and colorless world, housing just a sole island pending the materialization of up to forty-nine more islands that can be triggered with a guiding soul to escort you to the next. This game has an innovative gimmick in which the islands are procedurally generated, bar key islands, making every play through of it different.
He Who Dreams (unavailable)	He Who Dreams is the sole game made by reenoiPehT, taking place in a vast, white and empty space. It starts off with a single tree in the middle of the colossal, white baseplate, expanding further and further, gaining larger and larger structures that are activated per trigger.
Solastalgia	Solastalgia is the main game by Jodthes. It begins inside of a large slate tree, and then expands to contain many islands connected to one another. The game has previously been compared to Bobbys_Here, due to them sharing a similar style and both of them having NPCs which use a specific material.
Mayday	Mayday is the main game by DyingintheCold. It takes place on a snowy map, with a road leading to a home owned by an unknown person. After some time in game, the game will turn to night and ghosts will appear, which attack the player if they are too close to them.
processing	processing is the main game by sebjuct. It begins inside of a broken jail cell, and has a chair and desk outside of it. The entire game comprises of the same floor repeating over and over, each of which containing 6 of the same rooms. On floor zero, there is a note with three randomized numbers, corresponding to floors the player is meant to go to. The game also has a mechanic where the game goes dark sometimes and multiple black transparent characters appear and walk around randomly.
Byufcha's Place (unavailable)	Byufcha's Place is the main game by Byufcha. It takes place on a gray island, with a few trees and an office building. The game contains many triggers, which cause the game to progressively get more destroyed, with more and more nature appearing throughout.
