good job! you’re on your way to good intent— A presumed quote from IsolatedAvery in one of the games
IsolatedAvery is a Roblox myth, largely known for his game, "Untitled Game". He is also known for his challenging puzzles, as well as the various wild goose chases he sends people on with out-of-game images and links. While not a Character Interaction myth, he is prone to joining his game or responding to people's messages.
Biography
Due to the abstract nature of Untitled Game, as well as his mysterious personality, it would be hard to write a full biography of him. Even so, there are a few things that can be said.
On a surface level, it is assumed that Untitled Game is an unfinished video game and that IsolatedAvery is the one to have found it. This is supported by both the console in game saying "Early Test Build v2" and the description of the game saying "Questionable CD I found."
History
IsolatedAvery joined Roblox on the 12th of November, 2021. Little is known about the early history of the account, as they did not begin creating their game until the 6th of March, 2022. On March 27th, they'd upload the first teaser of their game, but would then go inactive after that. This would change on the 3rd of June, 2023, when they would upload yet another teaser of their game. Two days later they would also gain the "Upcoming Myth" rank in RMH Myth Development.
Later on in July, they would upload a teaser for the second subgame for "Untitled Game", and then a teaser for the third in October 2023. After this, there would not be any more teasers for some time, with the next one being a teaser for the revamped library, posted in April 2024. In May they would also gain the "Qualified Myth" rank in RMD.
As of now, the latest teaser was posted in June 2024, this one being a video of a tree capturing the player. Within the same month, they would also gain the "Established Myth" rank in Robloxian Myth Hunters.
Appearance
IsolatedAvery is seen wearing the "Smile" face, "The Artless Librarian" shirt, "The Artless Librarian" pants, and the "Giy Spiky Black Hair" hair. He sports white skin.
Personality and Traits
IsolatedAvery tends to be serious and quite stunted whenever in-game, however, on Discord he slips a bit and becomes a little more comically serious, cracking subtle jokes and often going along with a bit. Considering the lack of presence of his character in his games, it is a little difficult to fully understand the extent of his personality. However, we do get little tastes every now and then.
One thing that's clear to us is that IsolatedAvery is not one to share the secrets of his games, letting people figure it out by themselves, even if it takes months on end. It is definitely a respectable trait.
Game
Untitled Game
"Untitled Game" is IsolatedAvery's main game which takes place within a game that IsolatedAvery found. The game is divided into multiple subgames, each of which the player must access by solving puzzles of varying difficulty. The game notably utilizes vignettes to resemble an old game, while using a style utilizing elements from stud myths. Walkthrough warning, please attempt to hunt before viewing, click "Show More" to view.
The first thing the player might notice in this new game is the visible screen filter, betraying that we are on the other side of the screen seen in the first game. Further evidence to support this is that we are in the same landscape seen in the first game, complete with trees, and two houses in the distance. Additionally, the player may notice a small sapling near one of the houses, which when clicked on says the following:
"ï am nothing
come back once you know more"
We will come back to this later. For now, the player should walk straight ahead from spawn towards the first house in the distance and walk through the door. They will be greeted with a standard kitchen. On the right side of the door, there is a strange yellow ball which when clicked on says the following:
"oh, me, i am so devastated
i hope you’ve been spending your time wisely
oh, the worlds you’ve visited?
lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit, sed eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua"
Something interesting to note with this text is that it ends with lorem ipsum text, commonly used as placeholder text. This suggests that someone didn't finish what they were writing before they were cut off. Moving on to the rest of the house, the player should go to the bedroom. Inside the bedroom, there is a bed, a bedside table and a wardrobe. Clicking on the bed makes the following text appear:
"i would also take my time to rest
if i were you"
The player should open the bedside table's first drawer, where they will find a piece of paper with a sketch of an arrow pointing under a table. The player should take this as a hint to go back to the kitchen and look under the table. On the underside of the table is the following text:
"44 61 6D 61 73 63 75 73"
The player should decode this using hexadecimal and get the code "Damascus". Then, the player should leave this house and approach the other one. They will find that the door to the other house is locked, and when clicked the lock says this:
"tutorial.txt
i, the lock tell you the important details
interpret what i say loosely"
Of course, the player should then say their code, "Damascus", which will cause the door to disappear. Walking in, the player will be teleported to the next game, a library called "/Minerva".
Upon joining this game, the first thing the player will notice is the text at the top of their screen, saying:
"good job! you’re on your way to good intent"
Then, moving forward and slightly to the right, the player will notice an open book laying on a table. If the player decides to click this book, the following text will appear:
"i’ve yet to figure out what the true purpose of this was
none of the poetry’s really intelligible"
The player should walk up the ladder onto the library's second floor. Once they do this, they will face yet another locked door. Clicking the lock again, the following text will appear:
"i sit in the adjacent row
watching for longer or shorter durations"This is supposed to allude to Morse code, with the dots and dashes being the longer or shorter durations. We will get to this later. The player should first walk to their left, where a glowing book is located. Clicking the book says the following:
"“must reject my nature's rules,
to solemnly break out of this facade
must banish all distractions
nostalgia; losing of its touch now
the truth to expose
playing a puppetry of isolation”
-written by an old friend"
Walking back towards the locked door, the player may notice that the bookshelves adjacent to the door are slightly different from the rest of the library. The books are either standing upright or laying sideways. This is because they are encoded in Morse code. Each row/shelf of books is a different letter. There are 8 shelves with books in them, making this an 8-letter word. This word is "Escapism." Once the player says this code to the door, it will disappear again, and walking in they will be teleported to the next game, "Secrecy."
In "/Secrecy", the player spawns in a dark corridor. On their right-hand side, there is a small, clickable terrarium with what seems to be a leaf inside. Once clicked, it lights up, and says the following:
"preserving the light"
Moving on, the player should continue forward and jump over the bookshelves they see in front of them. After, this, the player must participate in a very small parkour, where they have to jump onto a moving platform and back onto the other side of the corridor. The first thing they may notice there is the fuse box on their right, which spawns with either a "+" or "-" sign on it. This is a hint for the puzzle that is to come. Moving forward, the player is faced with an entrance on their left and right, as well as another locked door straight in front of them. Wires lay on the floor coming from the fuse box, and going into each of the two entrances. If the player moves forward and clicks the lock once again, the following text will appear:
"für einmal,
ich höre ein fernes kräuseln"
This is German, and translates to:
for once,
i hear a distant ripple
This is once again a hint for the upcoming puzzle. The player should then move to the rooms beyond the two entrances. In each of them, 3 books that don't quite match the others will be identified. In total, there are 6 books, leading us to believe that the next code will consist of 6 letters. On these books' spines, there are black and white stripes. The player may notice that there are 10 stripes on each book or 10 values. This, along with the fuse box, the "+" or "-" signs that appear on this fuse box, the wires, and finally, the use of the word "ripple" lead us to one conclusion, the use of Decabit code. Once all 6 books are decoded, the player will get a 6-letter word which is their code, "Hidden." Saying this to the locked door opens it, but does not teleport the player! Instead, they should walk in, and jump on the podium where light is emerging from. This will teleport them to another section of the same game.
The player will find themselves on a bridge. Moving forward will lead them to an open area, the first sight of nature we have seen since the beginning of the game. They should continue following the path until they find themselves on a ledge. To their right is a tree. If they click this tree, the following text will appear:
"for the longest time
it was just me and a tree
we stood together
its roots have spread far
i'm not sure how long i can keep standing"
If the player opens the console by inputting /console in the chat (or pressing f9), they will see the following riddle:
"Keep anything logical or pure safe in a..?"
Various answers have been tried to solve this riddle. Answers such as "crow" or "heart" produce sounds of a crow squawk and a beating hart respectively, while various incorrect answers produce a comic wrong buzzer sound. It is not yet sure what the true answer to the riddle is.
Moving on, the player should walk to the ledge again. In fact, they should fall off it. By doing this, the player will find themselves on a platform. The player will soon notice that this platform is a stage, with a laugh-track playing in the background, seats in front of the stage, and the text "Would you like to phone a friend?" written on a sign in front of a player. This is a phrase very commonly used in game shows, which gives the player an idea of where they are. It is also a hint for the next puzzle.
If the player tilts their camera under the stage, they will notice a number under every other stud. These numbers are 5, 4, 2, 3, 7, 6, 7, 4, and 7. From the "phone a friend" hint the player can understand that it's a T9 (telephone keypad) cipher and from the number of light studs on the top side of the stage they can eventually figure out the answer, which is "Liberosis." As the player is still down there, they should begin searching for a clickable stud near the edges of the platform. Once this is clicked, a bridge leading to a door will replace the ledge. The player should respawn to go to it.
The player should walk along the bridge until they reach the door. Once the door is reached they should say the final code word, "Liberosis." They should walk into the darkness and be teleported to the final game "/Cul-de-sac."
"/Cul-de-sac" consists of a cut scene. This scene depicts the player rushing through what seems to be the remains of a village (or possibly something else.) At some point, bloody hands will flash on the player's screen. Eventually, the player will be led back into darkness, and seconds later will be kicked from the game, with the message "I'm sorry."
This is the end of the known game. It is unknown whether there is anything to do in that final game, although considering there is an extra badge there might be.
Theories
- Avery is stuck in a game
- The use of "Early Test Build v2" and the pixelated screen effect allude to the fact that we're playing a video game in a video game
- The very first game also supports this point, as the very first thing we do is turn on a console
- Finally, the video game-like puzzles which we go through solidify this fact
- The first code "Damascus", refers to the bibical story "Road to Damascus"
- This story depicts someone having a turning point in their life and turning to Christianity
- Turning points are a theme often explored within Avery's games
- This makes it plausible that this is indeed what he is referring to
Trivia
- He won 1st place for Best Atmosphere and 3rd place for Most Puzzling at the 2024 RMD Myth Awards.
- IsolatedAvery is followed by various myth database accounts, notably MythArchiver and themythdatabase.
- The console seen at the beginning of "Untitled Game" is modelled after the Nintendo Entertainment System.
- This console is unable to load CDs, which contradicts the description of the game, which mentions a "Questionable CD".
