hangs high letting only little by.— ovorcast
Ovorcast is a prominent myth within the abstract myth group known as Acrylic Aorta, currently holding the rank of Spinal Artwork. This designation reflects Ovorcast's intricate and enigmatic nature. Their game, titled "ovorcast's Place", is often described by myth hunters as a surreal experience featuring a series of distinct scenes set across various locations. The majority of these scenes take place in an olive-colored, foggy wasteland, creating a haunting and otherworldly atmosphere that defines the game.
Biography
Whilst no story is specifically concrete, their game does allude to a variety of different topics. It is most popularly theorized that higher-ups in the world of ovorcast's Place developed some form of technology that harnessed an immense power. This technology was then abused causing the volcano Ilyinsky, to erupt and decimate a large area in proximity to the volcano. An advisor, ovorcast, had attempted to warn the higher-ups of their rash development of such technology but none had listened and proceeded to continue their usage of it regardless. With his efforts in vain and Ilyinsky erupting, he attempted to find salvation at a higher point in the world, a mountain of sorts, where he found the arch. With the arch being a point above the thick ash clouds coming from Ilyinsky, ovorcast remained there as he watched the rest of the world succumb to ruin due to the development of such dangerous technology.
History
Ovorcast's account was created on May 21st, 2022, where they would join the Acrylic aorta group on the same day. ovorcast’s Place was created on the May 22nd, 2022, but was first known to be public on the 18th of June. It was then on the 24th of June that the game was updated once again with the description “ace/l/ti/ra/on” (Please note: Each slash is meant to be a line break.) which could then be unscrambled to “laceration”, the code used prior to the current one. This was originally noted by ballonboyhun within the Robloxian Myth Hunters' Discord server on the same date.
At some point between the 24th of June and the 8th of July, ovorcast updated his game once again, changing the description to “choke printout tools” and replacing the previous code with a new anagram. The newest anagram would be solved roughly two to three weeks later by the hunter kingcorky on the 22nd of July. Two assumptions of words had to be utilised to finally unscramble the description, making this the most difficult segment of ovorcast.
On the 1st of August he updated his game once again to change the 2nd puzzle of the 1st game, changing the shapes of the cipher blocks so that their meaning could be deciphered logically, rather than by method of substitution. It is stated that there was a logical method to decoding the previous blocks but it is not known how.
The 2nd place of ovorcast, previously called “plates” and now called “kurille’s long winter pt. I”, was created on the 4th of July. It is unknown when the game was finished and accessible but kingcorky would be the first to get there on the 2nd of August after the deciphering of the cipher blocks. ovorcast’s 3rd place, “kurille’s long winter pt. II” was created on the 3rd of August, just one day after the players had reached his second game. Once again, it is unknown when it was finished and accessible but, judging by the Acrylic Aorta twitter account, it would seem that it was fully built on the same day as its creation and was likely accessible then too.
It took another four days after the initial visits to “kurille’s long winter pt. I” before, on the 6th of July, kingcorky and MeumNomen were able to find all of the buttons and decipher all of the cipher blocks to progress to the second stage of the game. Progress stagnated for roughly 2 months before, on the 27th of September, kingcorky came back to the game and managed to decipher the newest set of cipher blocks, leading to “kurille’s long winter pt. II”.
After the discovery of “kurille’s long winter pt. II”, the buttons in the game were found immediately but, despite the collaborative efforts of numerous hunters, no one could decipher the newest cipher blocks and the game remained dormant for over ten months. Eventually, though, kingcorky would come back to the game and, along with THEpeoplewhoSEES, would finally decipher the cipher blocks on the 10th of July, 2023. ovorcast updated “kurille’s long winter pt. II” on the 11th of July, adding in a new puzzle involving a spectrogram. This puzzle was solved relatively quickly by kingcorky on the 12th of July, the same date as the 4th place of ovorcast would be created.
Ovorcast’s 4th and, currently, final place, “illinsky speaks”, was created on the 12th of July, almost an entire year after “kurille’s long winter pt. II”. It became accessible on the 16th of July.
Appearance
Ovorcast currently wears the Black Fur Cap and the ROBLOX Conference Lanyard. They have a grey head and torso, along with white legs and arms.
Personality and Traits
The character of ovorcast is pretty obscure, as he hasn't friended any myth hunters nor have any sightings of him in game been documented by myth hunters. However, from what hunters have gathered, ovorcast is known to be a pathological liar. Furthermore, the discord account has a goodly quantity of messages in some servers, showcasing that ovorcast only tends to speak with short messages and only really speaks about the arch or food such as chocolate. He also seems to attach himself to some people, having pinged user kingcorky with the message "good morning friend" at least eight times within a month and asking about the arch.
Game(s)
ovorcast's Place
Ovorcast's Place uses a unique approach of utilizing a single, fixed viewpoint for each puzzle. With a fixed camera, the player is limited in what they can necessarily do, forcing them to think creatively if they desire to progress any further. It also provides small quantities of semi-ambiguous lore with each puzzle completed, acting as an achievement for every puzzle the player solves.
Walkthrough: The player will spawn in with their camera fixated on a stone archway in the middle of an olive-coloured, desolate landscape. The player cannot move their camera and may only look at the arch whilst the continuous drone of low-pitched choir singers play in the background, fluctuating in pitch occasionally. Due to the fixation of the camera, the player has less to work with than they would usually. To progress from the first camera angle, the player must recognize the description of the game, “choke printout tools”, to be an anagram. The correct reassembling of the phrase yields the new phrase “slip out onto the rock". Upon saying the new phrase in the chat, the player is presented with three lines of dialogue at the top of the screen. The dialogue is as follows: “quickly days have gone by”, “walking up government buildings was a long, arduous task” and “but my strides amounted to nothing”.
The camera angle will switch to a view behind the arch during the last line of dialogue, revealing a new view of the back of the arch and a row of peculiarly shaped rocks. To progress once more, the player must get the total volume of each rock (by counting the number of blocks in each), assemble the numbers to make “4851794882542”, convert them from base37 to text and they’ll get the phrase “and climb”. Saying this in the chat will prompt another triad of text to appear: “consumed by the power”, “the power in which they did not create” and “knowing nothing of what they were doing”. After the third text prompt has been up for a short while, the player will be teleported to “kurille’s long winter pt. I”
The player will now find themselves in a city of sorts, covered in an orange haze, akin to some form of volcanic smog, with the same choir noise from before, yet more serene. The player can see streetlights, buildings presumably for housing and colossal chimneys connecting somewhat to a large factory somewhat similar to a power plant. Two skyscrapers can also be seen in the distance. To progress here, the player must find an incredibly small, clickable GUI on the bottom-right of their screen. Clicking this will make the familiar rocks from the first game appear which we will be calling cipher blocks from now on. Unlike the first set of cipher blocks, these ones contain both spaces and zeros. Zeros are different to ones as they are thinner on the axis that the player is facing, making the zeros and ones very difficult to differentiate between. Regardless, the new cipher blocks give the player the numbers “7838955 13030 12452” and, unlike the first set again, these must be converted from base26 to text, giving the player the phrase “reach the sky”. Saying this phrase in the chat will, once again, bring forth a triad of dialogue: “their facilities, headquarters, whatever you’d like to call it”, became analogous to factories” and “overseeing embryonic annihilation”.
The camera will switch angles once more to a new view of the city from the opposite end of the courtyard the camera was seemingly in shortly after the last line of dialogue is shown. They are now able to see more chimneys behind the existing ones, what seems to be fences of sorts surrounding another building and a plethora of differently sized skyscrapers in the distance. The player must find another button on the furthest left of their screen at the base of a chimney. This will conjure more cipher blocks on top of the wall separating the courtyard from the distant skyscrapers. The player must repeat the same process, attaining the numbers “30704 481586 1068 1278893” and this time converting them from base36 to text, giving the player “now able to rest”. Saying this phrase in the chat summons the usual triad of text: “i was called in to advise”, “but they only boasted of their new tools”, “tools that should never have been created”. After another short while, the player’s camera is transported to the inside of one of the smoking chimneys, the previously calm music heightening in pitch, before eventually being teleported to “kurille’s long winter pt. II”
The player’s camera has been transported back to the arch; this time placed upon a large boulder. The setting remains the same as the first game but with a different feel to the choir noise, being in a much higher, joyful tone with more instruments added behind it. To progress from this point, the player must find three buttons on their screen. One can be found on the top-left corner of the arch, the second on the bottom-right of the large boulder and the third slightly to the left of the camera, on the very bottom of the screen. Clicking all three of these will conjure up more cipher blocks to the right of the boulder. The player must repeat the usual steps, converting the blocks to “2789 92124 21815222411”. This time, the numbers are in a variant A1Z26 where A=28 and Z=3. With this, the number becomes “but the hunger”. As usual, saying the phrase brings about the triad of messages: “nobody listened; they put their lives in the bloody hands of those fools”, “so I fled” and “like the coward I am”.
The camera will then switch to an upwards shot of the back of the arch on the boulder, elevating it from the player’s perspective. Shortly after the camera angle is switched, a noise can be heard playing. Recording this noise and converting it into a spectrogram will give the player an image of a message (refer to 3c in Gallery). Upon some analysis, the player can determine that the writing in the spectrogram gives them the link: “https://arch--arch.neocities.org". Visiting the page, the player is greeted with a distorted image of the arch, text saying “first62243844 second661211” and a bar to type and submit text into. The submissions bar has no known use. To progress from this point, the player will have to replace “first” and “second” with the dimensions of the distorted arch image (Refer to 3d in Gallery), replacing “first” with “482” and “second” with “749”. Assembling these together leaves the player with “48262243844 749661211” and converting this string from base37 to text gives the player their last code phrase, “it eats at you”. Upon saying this, the player’s camera pans out away from the arch and its large boulder into the distance as the map fades to black. Shortly after this fade, the player will be teleported to the 4th place, “illinsky speaks”.
The player will find their camera in front of a large mound of rock in an olive-colored lake, possibly depicting the Russian volcano Ilyinsky near to the Kurile Lake. An ominous track plays whilst the wind seems to whisper intelligible things at you. There is a tiny invisible button on the right side of the Ilyinsky structure, found on what could be considered the corner of the structure, slightly below the vertical halfway point of it. Clicking this will reveal the usual cryptic rocks, this time giving the player a string of "243642250287670949". If you replace the zeros with spaces, turning it into "24364225 28767 949", and decode it using a T9 converter, the numbers becomes, in order, "chemical", "burns" and a possibility of "why", "wiz", "wix" and "xix". No progress has been made past this point.
Theories
- Misuse of new nuclear technology caused the volcano Ilyinsky to erupt, covering a large area with a fatal level of volcanic debris and ash clouds.
- Many references to the volcano of Ilyinsky are found throughout the games, with the final game being called “illinsky speaks”, pointing towards an eruption.
- “Tools that should have never been created” is a common phrase when concerning nuclear weaponry, potentially pointing to it.
- ovorcast’s very own name suggests that the place is covered with clouds. Never specifying what kind of cloud gives full plausibility to them being volcanic ash clouds.
- The audio found in ovorcast’s inventory mostly seem to point towards ash and volcanoes with names such as “black smoke rises” and “skin your knee; etc. the ash burrows and stings” being present.
- Overexploitation of hydrothermal energy from Ilyinsky leads to it erupting, leaving the area around Lake Kurile uninhabitable.
- Hunters can refer to the theory for reasoning around the Ilyinsky eruption.
- ovorcast once semi-confirmed the idea of hydrothermal energy powering the technology.
- ovorcast is also known to be a pathological liar, rendering this point potentially redundant.
- Kurile Lake is known to have hydrothermal plants surrounding it, utilizing the Lake for power already.
- The arch is a safe haven from the devastation caused by Ilyinsky, likely stationed high as to be above the clouds.
- ovorcast’s description states “hangs high letting little by”, likely in reference to the arch. This could suggest both a high altitude and also a lack of anything much passing by.
- “reach the sky, now able to rest” from the codes suggests that the arch is both high up and a resting point for ovorcast.
- “slip out onto the rock and climb” suggests that it was a trek to go up and that it is most likely up a mountain.
Trivia
- ovorcast’s Place is the most difficult game of Acrylic Aorta
- Its first puzzle was only possible due to partial assumptions of what might be in the answer.
- Due to its difficulty, many mistake it as having no gameplay.
- THEpeoplewhoSEES, a well known and well-versed myth hunter, stated that the first puzzle is the most difficult puzzle he's seen solved individually in any myth game.
- ovorcast’s Place was the 4th Acrylic Aorta game to be released, following sarah, sleigh ride and lotus ø.
- The game’s icon and thumbnail both contain text in an unusual font. The text is mixed with more letters and reversed sentences, making it nearly unintelligible. However, with careful analysis, it can be seen to say “laceration”.
- The description of the game has gone through 3 iterations: no description, "ace l ti ra on" and "choke printout tools". Presumably all three brought about different codes as well.
- Previously, there was a bug that players could use where they could switch the camera settings to gain control of their camera and find their character in-game.
- This has since been fixed but was present in "kurille's winter pt. II" and "illinsky speaks" for a short period after their releases.
- ovorcast is one of the few myths with their inventory open.
