Biography

Childhood

Doris grew up with an absent father and an abusive mother. Her father had fought in World War II, and due to his PTSD episodes, he became violent toward his wife. This led him to leave altogether before Doris was born. Her mother, on the other hand, had either kept her in the house's cellar as much as possible or sent her off to the mental hospital, claiming that Doris was out of control. The mother instead devoted all her time and energy to the family's younger brother, Chase. The only thing that would bring Doris peace in her childhood was Christianity, and especially angels. She owned a small box of angel figures that her father had left at the house. Every night, she would hold them and pray, sometimes blaming herself for her situation, and saying that she wasn't the "best kid."

On Doris's eighteenth birthday, her mother kicked her out.

Adulthood

Doris got a job at a cafe, where she met her future boyfriend, Juniper. At first, she would act differently than her usual self, putting up an "emotional mask" so he wouldn't suspect anything abnormal had happened to her. However, with time, that mask slowly wore away. The two of them rented a house, and Doris finally had a chance to live a normal, healthy life. One day, the two of them were feeding pigeons on their back porch before one of them somehow managed to break its neck. Doris went out and stomped on its head out of pure instinct. Juniper, in shock, called her a monster and ran back into the house, leaving her. When he was heading out the door, Decay took a kitchen knife and stabbed him in the back multiple times out of rage, sadness, and something else.  

Afterwards, she didn't know what to do with herself or with the body. So, she ate it. This started a cannibalistic addiction that continued throughout her divinity years. She believes that it helps her remember Juniper, even if she'll never forgive herself for what she did to him.

Divinity

Details about her deal with TheOneAboveThemAll to become a god aren’t very well-known; however, it was to save Chase from his supposed fate. She earned the title of the goddess of the deceased, and now looks over both of the afterlives of that world: Medolita and Lohuterra. Medolita acts as a heaven, while Lohuterra is similar to hell. Her name got taken away from her, leaving her with Decay.

History

TheDecayingDarling’s account was created the 4th of April 2024, she was the second character to ever join and helped build the myth alongside TheDespairedOne.

Appearance

Decay's avatars are always gothic and Victorian-inspired, regardless of whatever outfit she wears. In her most known, she has black and white long wavy hair, with a wide-brim tassel hat on top. Black and white curled segmented horns protrude out of her head. A fluffy black boa rests across her shoulder. Her skin is completely white, and she wears a black corset top with black gloves trimmed in floral black lace. On her face, she wears a toothy mask

Canonically, Decay has no eyes or nose; the toothy mask tries to give the illusion of that. She's known for making multiple outfits but always keeps the hair, mask, and horns.

Her human design consists of a straight jacket and long, messy black hair with the bored face.

Personality and Traits

Decay is level-headed and compliant with most situations, making her quite easygoing, even if she may not seem approachable at first glance. In contrast, Decay is unpredictable; she can be vague or even irritable when certain topics arise in conversation. Although she typically refrains from directing her frustration at innocent parties. When the topic of her past is brought up, she can turn into a trance-like state and become quiet.

She exhibits some sociopathic tendencies; while she has a limited capacity for empathy, she still demonstrates a degree of compassion and protectiveness toward those she cares about. Her understanding of compassion is skewed, leading to complex interactions where her behavior can be both caring and unpredictable.

Abilities

• Afterlife judgement.

When a mortal dies and she’s guiding them, she can look into their soul and see everything they’ve ever done. Then she decides where they go in the afterlife.

Also known as Lord, Decay is terrified of him. Anytime they interact, she makes herself try to seem small in his eyes so he won’t pay any attention to her. She knows something about him that she refuses to admit.

TheDespairedOne

Despair is like an older brother to Decay. They’ll bicker and tease each other for fun, yet the second he’s in trouble, she’ll get worried and want to take care of him.

TheFourthOne

Decay hates Fourth, even when they’re agreeing on something, Decay will try to avoid him. Whenever Fourth is present, she rolls her eyes and either goes up to him to start bickering with him or avoids him.

KingOfTheGemFlower

Due to King’s personality and arguably low IQ, Decay is like a mother to him. All she wants is to keep King safe. Even if that's teaching him lessons like a child or punishing him like one.
