Comfort is out of the question.— EdithNoir
EdithNoir is a very mysterious myth that is believed to be related to the Holocaust and resembles someone a part of real-world history. She is mostly known for her rank in Mythsman: Myth Investigation Service and the occasional moments hunters briefly investigate her because of her short game.

Biography

EdithNoir has been theorized of being a depiction of the French singer, Edith Piaf, who helped Jewish people during the Holocaust. This is because a song plays within Buried Synagogue that was made by Edith Piaf. She may have used the synagogue as a place of shelter for her and others, and maybe it had been attacked, hence the poor conditions it is found in. If it was attacked and people were killed here, that could explain the spirits seen around the game when turned to night.

Alternatively, Edith may have been visiting the aftermath of the synagogue and attempted to help the spirits trapped there through spiritual ways. This may also explain why she has her music playing there and why survival supplies are set up there. Anything else other than her possibly learning Hebrew and using it through writing is unknown. However, her background and personality may be similar to Edith Piaf's.

History

EdithNoir joined Roblox on the 18th of June, 2019, and made her game on the same date. She was discovered when her game was noticed by Unidentifiedchris through being on another myth's friend list. There is basically nothing recorded about her early days as a myth nor if she ever interacted with anyone. However, she did end up obtaining a rank in Mythsman: Myth Investigation Service sometime in late 2019 or 2020. Afterward, during the year 2020, she logged off Roblox for good and hasn't come online in at least two years.

Appearance

EdithNoir’s character is very green, resembling Robin Hood’s style. Their hat is called Bereted Brunette. A beret is originally from France but also found in Czechoslovakia. They also have a Lovely Black Bow and a Sunflower Lapel Pin on their character. She wears an outfit named "Abez".

Personality and Traits

EdithNoir has been inactive for years, therefore, making her behavior towards others rather unknown, but she is probably friendly considering who she has friended. She is theorized to have helped tons of people who are treated horribly, meaning that she probably has a very empathetic personality. Edith most likely is interested in singing and making music and most likely understands French, English, and Hebrew.

Game

Buried Synagogue

The game consists of an abandoned and destroyed building with a sundial and secrets hidden amongst it. The setting of the game is during WWII and the Holocaust. It has references to Kristallnacht (the night of broken glass) with the history of a haunted synagogue. The Holocaust, also known as the Shoah, was the genocide of European Jews during World War II. Between, 1941-1945, Nazi Germany and its collaborators systematically murdered some six million Jews across German-occupied Europe, around two-thirds of Europe's Jewish population. Buried Synagogue is concluded to be related to this event.

The player can say "Night" to make the time of day change. At that point, figures will have spawned around the game and the Hebrew text, "אל תסתכל אחורה" also appears, roughly translating to "don't look back". . After that, the player can change the time of day again by saying "Dawn", which will reverse all the effects of "Night", removing every figure and the Hebrew text.

Theories

  • Edith Noir is based on Edith Piaf.
    • The myth shares multiple qualities with the person such as the same first name, similar dressing, and they both relate to the Holocaust in some way.
    • The music featured in the game is one of Edith Piaf’s songs, “Non, Je ne regrette rien”, which means: “No, I do not regret anything”. This most likely isn't just a coincidence but instead, the main piece of evidence that is used to support the theory.
  • Edith was attempting to communicate with the Jewish people who stayed in the synagogue.
    • Edith has a few models which are words in the Modern Hebrew script. These words have not been found in the game "Buried Synagogue", however.
      • The model "Text2" is לאשם in Hebrew, possibly translating to "not there".
      • The model "Text" is also in Hebrew, but it is difficult to translate since its image is on a slant.
        • The translations were achieved through online translators, so they may not be entirely accurate.
    • The in-game radio and crates are indications of people living in the Buried Synagogue. The presence of a sundial in the game also indicates that people were trying to tell time without a clock. Thus, it appears that people were hiding out in the Buried Synagogue and were perhaps waiting for Edith to help them. The sundial would have been useful for telling time without a clock, as there does not seem to be an unbroken clock in the synagogue (and going out to get a clock would risk getting discovered).

Trivia

  • EdithNoir is friends with a few recognized people within the myth community such as Activvity, Themistius, and Gopherberry. She had even had Ghlaxanes friended at one point.
  • She only has one player badge on her profile named, "Site - 19", from an SCP game created by a group that is owned by 1ik.
  • Stalzie, and GoodMyths follow EdithNoir along with a few myth list accounts.
