Let me take you down, 'cause I'm going to...— Description of 'Alila's Garden'
AlilaLeif is a myth most well-known for her difficult puzzle game Alila's Garden. She created her myth around 2020, it wasn't until 2023, however, when Alila revamped her game to be more focused on the puzzle-solving genre, did she gained attraction inside the myth community. A self-proclaimed "monolith marauder" who loves strawberries, has a quirky personality, and after the death of her sister, LaelLeif, Alila is now the current owner of her sister's little cottage, which resides in a mysterious land and contains a story left to be unraveled. A tale about the fate of Alila's sister.

Biography

AlilaLeif, or Alila for short, is one out of many individuals like her who live within a location which is referred to as the Monolith. Not much is known about the Monolith; it is described as a land full of rocky pillars suspended high above an ocean. Another notable aspect about this place is that the environment gets harsher in the lower parts of the Monolith with constant rains and storms around sea levels, rockier terrain, and a heavy fog that covers the lands below. A community of people is believed to be residing within the Monolith, so far, not a lot of information is known about them.

Alila's sister, LaelLeif, was a well-beloved figure in the Monolith community when she was alive. She was adored to the point that people there started to worship her and became her disciples. Lael later fell in love with a person named JCI, a powerful figure inside the Monolith, a prime minister of the Monolith community of sorts. Together, both of them ran away from the public eye and hid themselves inside a cottage that was built on top of the Monolith, once owned by JCI's parents and then later taken by Lael. Lael spent her time there as a gardener, taking care of plants and living a quiet life with JCI.

After some time, JCI suddenly vanished, leaving Lael behind with the house until he came back to murder her on the morning of June 13th, 2020. Lael's death was covered up; no trace of her was found. The news of her disappearance spread, leaving people to wonder where she went off or if she is even alive. The cottage was soon taken over by Alila; however, the place was left open for the public to explore and look around.

History

AiliaLeif made her Roblox account on the 13th of June, 2020. Supposedly, just 5 days later, on June 18th, 2020, the earliest known version of Alila's Garden was created. During the early days of the game's existence, not much was added inside the game, with there being only a house and a few islands at first. That wasn't until 2023 that the game got revamped into what it is today, using her coding and building knowledge she obtained over the years. Alila transformed the game completely into a puzzle-based solving game, giving players some challenging puzzles to solve, a story to uncover, and a unique atmosphere to immerse in. Alila's Garden finished development on August 28th, 2023, but the game would still get updates to this day.

During the 2024 RMH Myth Development Myth Awards, AlilaLeif won the award for Best Scripting, making it the only RMH Myth Development Myth Awards she obtained [1]. She was a nominee in the 2023 Myth Development Myth Awards for categories such as Best Gameplay and Best Overall.

Today, Alila is still frequently active on Roblox and especially on Discord, updating her game from time to time and actively interacting with her community as of writing, and has been associated with myths such as Concertae and Portraet (Retired). After the development of Alila's Garden, Alila tried to develop several new projects relating to her myth, but due to lack of motivation, creative block and real-life responsibilities, they have since gone on hiatus, but Alila claims that she would like to continue making an AlilaLeif game someday, and she's welcomes anyone who is willing to stay by her side for however long it takes for it to happen.

Appearance

Alila's main features include a combination of Red Cloak Hood, Crusaders Red Cloak, Star Candy Hair Poms Green for her cloak; Short Braided Pigtails In Black and Black Bangs for her hair accessories, Gray-ish Brown Knitted Sweater with matching pants Plaid as her clothing, and other accessories such as Strawberry Kawaii Necklace 1-0, Y2K Belly Chain 1-0 V2 Girl Torso, and Dual Throwing Knives. For Alila's body parts, she wears a Creepy Weirdcore Eyes Dynamic Head and the Roblox Girl Torso.

This is Alila's main appearance; however, she had been spotted wearing alternative outfits for special events, such as Christmas, or randomly for fun.

Personality and Traits

Although AlilaLeif herself doesn't show up in Alila's Garden and is only mentioned briefly through dialogue, from interactions with her while she was in-game, she is shown to be quite playful, with her being cheerful and friendly around people she meets. She also would like to help out anyone who is trying to solve the puzzles in her game, often giving out obvious hints as to what to do next; she claims this is a habit that she finds hard to resist. She is known to be a strawberry lover.

Games

Alila's Garden

Alila's Garden is AlilaLeif's main game. Upon joining, the player will start at a title screen, and after clicking on the "New Game" (Or "Resume Game" if played before) button, can begin to walk around the game and interact with the environment. Each location within the game houses multiple puzzles to solve to perceive further, requiring the player to search around, collect items, and interact with objects to progress into Alila's cottage, discovering more of the story hidden within. Some puzzles require more than 1 player to complete.

The game can be fully completed, with the player be given a completion badge for reaching the very end. Alila's Garden also contains a secret badge for the dedicated players to figure out and obtain;[2] however, Alila said that the badge will get deleted permanently if someone ever publicly reveals the information on how to get it.

the last few leaves

"the last few leaves" or "50 Meters Below," as it was once called, was the next upcoming project that AlilaLeif developed after Alila's Garden. It was a direct follow-up to Alila's Garden, set to take place right after the ending of the first game. The player would have played as AlilaLeif herself, deep below the Monolith, in search of JCI to seek revenge for the death of her sister. Development of the game was halted after a while due to the many issues regarding the plot and gameplay. Alila struggles to figure out how she wants the mechanics and story of the game to be like, and because of this, the game proves challenging to develop for Alila. In the end, "the last few leaves" was left unfinished and unplayable as of writing.

☆untitled alila leif demo☆

"☆untitled alila leif demo☆" is a small game created by AlilaLeif to show off a custom 3D human model of herself that was intended to be used for "the last few leaves". The game doesn't have much content, only an empty baseplate that contains 2 Alila models and the Roblox avatar of her standing still, as the player controls the 3D Alila model that is mentioned above to walk around. The model itself is fully rendered and complete, with the only thing that is unfinished being the animations for the model.

June 18, 2020

"June 18, 2020" is a save of an early version of Alila's Garden, presumably made on the 18th of June, 2020. It is one of the earliest known versions of the game back then before it got changed into a puzzle-solving game later down the line. The save can still be accessible to anyone who wants to see how far the game has come from its humble beginnings.

Group

Alilarium

Alilarium is the main group of AlilaLeif, quoted as the official monolith marauder fan club. The group consists of 5 unique ranks, which include "folks" for the normal players who joined, "gardeners" for those whom Alila picks, "monolith folk" and "power" ranks are for the characters inside the Monolith world, and finally "marauder", which has AlilaLeif.

Relationships

LaelLeif

The big sister of Alilaleif, beloved by all within the Monolith and the previous owner of the cottage on top of it, Laeleif was killed by JCI on the 13th of June, 2020, inside the house's bathroom. The cause of death was drowning from JCI shoving her head inside a bathtub. Since then, the remains of her have never been found. Nothing is known about Lael's relationship with Alila, but it's assumed both of them got along well, well enough that Alila would want to find JCI to avenge her death from what the general plot of the unreleased sequel implies.

JCI

The all-powerful figure of the Monolith, being the lover and killer of LaelLeif, JCI, or J for short, can be seen as the main antagonist of Alila's Garden, being the one responsible for Lael's death and her cover-up. JCI also distributes many of the techs and machinery that are found in Alila's Garden, He is known to be a cruel individual who cares little about anything or anyone else other than his power and Lael. The reason why JCI murdered Lael is still a speculation, as it isn't clear what his motive was for killing her. Because JCI is the perpetrator of her sister's sudden death, Alila held a large grudge against him; she wants him to pay for what he did to Lael and is currently tracking him down to make sure it happens.

Piranesia

Piranesia is one of the accounts that can be found inside the Alilarium group and is mentioned briefly by "Boss" inside Alila's Garden. She is believed to be from the future, and there are hints that Piranesia is connected to AlilaLeif in some ways. She appears to work as an assistant of sorts for Alila and the character "Boss". So far, the identity of Piranesia still remains unknown.

Hamel

Another account that can be found inside the Alilarium group and appears as a character in Alila's Garden, Hamel was one of the people who adored LaelLeif when she was alive, and after the news came about Lael's disappearance at her cottage, Hamel went to the cottage along with many others, curious to see how Lael spent her time living there. Hamel can be found in-game, acting as an NPC you can talk to, and players need to help her to progress further into the game by making her a marmalade toast, which is mentioned to be her favorite food. In one of Hamel's dialogues, she brings up Alila briefly as the owner of Lael's house after her disappearance, but interactions with her Roblox account revealed that Hamel and Alila do know each other, and that they are actually considered friends with one another.[3]

Salmoneyed

Salmoneyed is one of the last accounts that can be found in the Alilarium. Nothing is known about this character or how they tie in with the lore of Alila's games, other than a strange connection to Alila's love for Sockeye Salmon that was stated multiple times inside AlilaLeif's Discord server. Salmoneyed also made an appearance in one of the screenshots of the last few leaves.[4]

Theories

  • During the final parts of Alila's Garden a machine can be found that plays a video showing the murder of LaelLeif by the hands of JCI. In the sequence, Lael mentioned that she doesn't "have the leaves" for JCI. Some suggest that the "leaves" are actually tea leaves, and that they could be a symbol of memory, as tea is generally known to help with one's memory. This could be hinting at the machine that JCI built, which can show a video of one's memory, the one the player used to watch the fate of LaelLeif, having some connection to her demise in some way. Something could have gone terribly wrong during the creation of the machine, causing JCI to either lose his memories or alter them, which could explain his sudden behaviour and actions towards Lael.
  • In Alila's GardenA character named "Boss" shows up in the game. It is theorized that "Boss" is actually AlilaLeif, who sent the player off to the cottage to investigate it. It is confirmed that Piranesia, a person who has a strong connection to Alila, also has ties with "Boss", making the theory seem more plausible.
  • It is speculated that Piranesia could be a future version of AlilaLeif, who travels back to the past to help the current version of Alila with her task.
  • LaelLeif owns a book called "Milk and Honey" by Rupi Kaur, which, from the content of the book, could imply JCI had already shown signs of aggression and violence towards Lael long before JCI left Lael alone with the cottage.
  • While all of the glasses symbols that appear around Alila's Garden could be a logo for JCI's inventions or a potential company, it could also serve as some kind of religious symbol.
  • Due to JCI acknowledging the existence of myth hunters, his control over Alila's Garden, and access to the Alilarium Discord server. Speculation has been made about whether or not he knows he's part of a video game.
  • There's a theory that has been circulating on The Alilarium Discord server called "the Hamel theory". It is a theory revolving around one of the characters from Alila's Garden named Hamel. However, it is inconclusive on what the theory actually is, as every mention of "the Hamel theory" is either very vague or confusing about what the theory is exactly, and the significance of Hamel in this said "theory". "The Hamel theory" is most likely a joke created for fun by specific people inside the community and Alila herself.

Trivia

  • According to Alila, some aspects of Alila's Garden was inspired by the game Machinarium, as well as her experience during the COVID-19 pandemic as a kid.
  • During the development of the last few leaves, Alila took inspiration from being able to go to different worlds through paintings in the Roblox game "The Gallery" by Portraet. At some point, 9 worlds were planned to be added to the game that the player could explore.
  • The location of the Monolith is somewhere around the northern Pacific Ocean.
  • The "let's visit" on the title icon of Alila's Garden was inspired by Animal Crossing's "Welcome to" sentence on its title card.
  • AlilaLeif is a math enthusiast and is known to solve math questions for fun during her free time.
  • AlilaLeif has a love for Sockeye Salmon.
  • Not only is Alila a strawberry, a math and a Sockeye Salmon lover, but she also has an interest in bears.
  • The creator of AlilaLeif lives in Canada.
  • Alila's canon age is the same as the creator's.
  • Interestingly, the day that AlilaLeif made her Roblox account, June 13th, 2020, was also the same day of her sister's disappearance.
  • AlilaLeif supposedly is a soldier, and the pom poms that are sewn onto her cloak indicate rank/unit, similar to old military hats.
  • On June 13th, 2024, an event was hosted inside Alila's Garden for the 4th anniversary of the game, a gathering with players that was intended to start at 8:00 PM CST, but was pushed back 2 hours later. The event later ended around 11:35 PM CST.[5]
  • A reference to AlilaLeif can be found inside the Roblox game "Sonnets" by Concertae. She can be spotted as one of the many plushies that Concertae owns.[6]
  • The creator has made a few other myths before AlilaLeif, one of them being JCI himself. He was later reused as the antagonist for Alila's Garden.
  • The holly berry seed packet is one of the seed packets in Alila's Garden that could only be obtained seasonally. It was first obtainable during the Christmas of 2023, where players could simply collect it inside the cottage. Ever since then, it has become an annual tradition for the seed packet to return every holiday season. For Christmas of 2025, Alila changed the requirements for getting the holly berry seed packet, making it harder to obtain than in previous years.[7]
  • On April 5th, 2026, a live event happened inside Alila's Garden to celebrate Easter, where the whole game was littered with around 120 eggs for players to find and collect for the prize of a limited badge. At first, a player would need to collect over 38 eggs to be able to get the badge, but it was changed to over 10 eggs to make it easier for everyone participating. After the live event, the Easter egg hunt would stay in the game around week more for anyone who weren't there during the live event. Alila would then change the requirement again, needing to collect 70 eggs to obtain the badge and replacing the limited Easter badge with a new exclusive Easter lily seed packet.[8]
