Biography

Picta Portraet is a self-proclaimed god of art and abstraction; the creator of the paintings and tapes that can be found inside her gallery realm. Due to a certain event that she committed in her past, Picta was banished. She was forced to stay in various purgatories throughout her time of punishment, with her gallery being the current place of her imprisonment.

Origin

Before her identity as Picta, she was once a human named Piper. A university student during the late 1990s to early 2000s who studied the art of painting but unfortunately, was struggling to get through life. Her grades were falling, she held grudges against the people around her, and debts were piling up to the point where she wouldn't be able to afford to live in her apartment anymore.

At first, Piper's parents had other plans for her career, but because Piper wanted to pursue art school, they decided to let Piper follow her passion for painting. But now, seeing how much she had failed in art school, Piper wouldn't dare to reach out to her parents. She would lie that she's doing fine on her own, but she knows that eventually, they'll realize how much of a failure she was to them.

During Piper's university life, through unknown circumstances, she made contact with a powerful entity by the name of Ensui. This godlike being fascinates her to the point of obsession. As her life spiraled further down, Piper became more devoted to Ensui, obsessed over the idea that she could be like Ensui, that she could become a different being altogether, becoming someone else entirely, someone that isn't her. In a last-ditch effort to escape her terrible existence, Piper sacrifices herself as an offering to Ensui to ascend her into a higher being. Seeing Piper take her own life, Ensui decided that he would grant Piper's wish of ascension despite the discouragement from the other beings like him, to see how it would play out, allowing a human to become a higher being for nothing other than seemingly out of his boredom. And so, the depressed painter was no more, and a new being was born, one that called herself Picta Portraet.

Early ascension era

After Piper was reborn as Picta, she is now one of the many beings that reside within the god realm; the most significant to her were Ensui, Shik, Kyu, and Prisma. As the one who allowed Picta's ascension, Ensui took the role as one of her mentors; the role was also given to Prisma early on. Picta would act as a disciple and servant to Ensui, and the others also treated her as such. As time progresses, Picta begins to despise the others' treatment of her. In her mind, she was seen as a lower, lesser being compared to the rest of them. She was treated like a nobody when all she wanted was for them to show her some little respect, be seen as one of them. This feeling would eventually lead to the death of Ensui and the subsequent banishment of Picta.

Rebellion era

Picta's inferiority complex finally came to a breaking point when, on one faithful day, Picta decided she had enough and fully snapped. She created a plan to overthrow Ensui by killing him, taking his powers, and overtake his position inside the god realm.

She was successfully able to kill Ensui; however, her plans quickly fell when Shik and Kyu banished her for what she did, ending her rebellion, but not without the death of a prominent figure inside the god realm.

Post-Rebellion | Present

As Picta's punishment for the murder of Ensui, she was stripped of most of her powers and was imprisoned outside of the main realm, making sure she wouldn't be able to cause more trouble than she already had. After being transported to purgatory after purgatory, Picta would eventually be confined inside the gallery that we know of today.

During her time within the gallery, Picta created the paintings and tapes that would later be found and interacted with by players in-game. These creations were not intended by the higher-ups who are taking charge of Picta's imprisonment, including Shik and Kyu, as they seem to be the key to Picta's freedom, especially the tapes. Mysteriously, around this time, players would start to show up in Picta's gallery. These players, claimed by Picta to have made the same mistake as her, would help Picta by collecting her tapes inside the many painting realms she has made.

This is all a part of Picta’s plans, as this would all eventually accumulate into Picta presumably being able to escape from her prison and getting her freedom.

History

Portraet joined Roblox on the 7th of July, 2023. Only two days later, on the 9th, they created their first game, "The Gallery". It is not known exactly if development started on this date, but it is known to have happened within the same month, due to the creation of various badges during the month of July. They would also create their group, originally known as "PAINTING PURGATORY", on the 27th of July, 2023. Very soon after creating their myth, they would begin gaining traction in the community. This is thanks to a combination of a unique and interesting game, as well as knowing many popular users early on. Throughout the next few months, the myth would continue updating, with new badges being added for each tape.

In August 2024, Picta announced they would retire from the myth community, and shutdown their Discord server. In a tweet later on, they stated their reasoning for this came from not feeling safe or comfortable in the myth community and not wanting to host their community in it. They stated that the Portraet project in the future would be considered as an Alternate Reality Game. After this, they would continue to be somewhat associated with the community, talking in spaces such as Robloxian Myth Hunters and continuing to associate with myths such as Concertae and AlilaLeif.

Today, Picta is still somewhat active, often interacting with their community from time to time, especially on Potraet's new Discord server. Portraet game “The Gallery”, due to it not being one of Picta's main priorities anymore, with their focus on other things outside of Roblox, and there not being any more scripters, the game is left unfinished as of the time of writing. Picta says they still have some plans for the game, but claims that painting 6, the final unfinished painting of the game, would likely not happen anytime soon unless they were majorly sponsored in some way. Picta hopes that people would understand that the chances of the game being completed are low, as they don't want to leave people with promises that she can't fulfill; however, this won't stop them from continuing to create artwork and update previous paintings, as they love the game and her community.

Appearance

Her appearance is rather chaotic. Her skin is paper white, with various accessories such as Living Art: A New President, Lowered Hair Ear Tufts (white), High white hair ear tufts (white), Picta's Hair, Red Blue Horns, Picta's face, Picta's Sticky Note, Picta's Dress (Top), Picta's Dress (Bottom), and lastly, Picta’s Tail.

Personality and Traits

Based on the tapes, NPC interaction inside the game, and interactions both inside and outside of Roblox, Picta has a rather chaotic personality. Sometimes she is fairly laid-back, chill, and not too serious. But at other times, such as her interactions on Twitter, she can come off as unhinged. She is able to create pocket realms resembling paintings, and is capable of murdering god-like beings if her powers are not held back.

Games

The Gallery

The Gallery is Portraet's main game, consisting of an art gallery with dimmed lighting. The Gallery serves as a hub game for six much smaller games, which the player can access by clicking on the portals. The game also features various pieces of fan art of Picta., as well as having a statue and a small cassette player which the player can interact with.

When the player joins the game, they are met with a drawn image of Picta's avatar. The player can interact with this character, to which she informs the player that she’s summoned them in a quest to help her escape the art gallery. For the player to complete this quest, they must obtain all cassette tapes. Each portal contains at least one.

In the first portal, the player will see various platformed section of Picta’s world. The sky is littered with colorful floating shapes, which are a nod to the 'Overseers'. To find the first tape, the player has to go to each platform and pick up a shape. The last platform will allow them to place each shape on concrete stands. Once completed, they will form into Tape One, which in return gives the player a badge and saves in the main game.

In the second portal, the player will see an apartment. Exploring throughout this apartment, they’ll come across a kitchen. Within this kitchen, the player can find letters scattered on the counter. One of these letters is an eviction notice. The letter is addressed to an individual named “Piper”, which can be implied to be Picta. Above is a portrait. When clicked on, it will reveal a safe. To find the code, the player must travel back to the bedroom, and find a specific book, which is above the bed. The safe password is ‘7723’. The book also mentions a laptop password, which may be used in a future update. After unlocking the safe, they are granted the second cassette tape.

in the third portal, the player is in an abandoned sanctuary of some sort. After some exploring, they’ll find a gold plate that displays a riddle;

“In heavens vast or the earthy floor. This phrase in wisdom does explore. From cosmic stars to roots that grow. What’s the secret of ____?”

The answer is: as above so below.

After answering, a cave will open up and the third cassette tape will be floating on another concrete stand.

In the fourth portal, the player is in an abandoned church of some sort. The objective of this game is to find 5 black shards which are placed across the church's small interior. By the 4th, the basement latch will open. The 5th one will be held in Piper’s (supposedly) lifeless body.

In the fifth portal, the player will see themselves in a room of various tables. The hallway the player walks down as they enter has a few statues made of concrete. The one kneeling can be clicked on from behind, which reveals a key. With this key the player can open the other door with a key slot inside.

Inside this other room, involves a puzzle. To figure out the puzzle, you must go off of the formatting of the table's & their cards.

CASSETTE PLAYER (unavailable)

CASSETTE PLAYER is a game used exclusively for playing tape cassettes which can be found throughout Portraet's main game, "The Gallery". The game itself depicts a small dark carpeted room, with a table in the middle of it. On this table is a small lamp as well as the cassette player, which can be used by selecting a tape and clicking on the player.

This game has been privated and the tape playing mechanic has been moved to Portraet's main game, The Gallery.

Group

PAINTING PARTY

PAINTING PARTY, previously known as "PAINTING PURGATORY", is Portraet's main group. It is used mostly as a fan group, although is also sometimes used to inform fans of Picta about news. It also has multiple ranks, with an honorary rank for those who Portraet pick, a contributor rank for those who have helped with the development of Portraet in some way, and an overseer rank, which are related to the lore of Portraet, judging by the accounts in the rank.

Relationships

Cubeaical

Cubeaical is an account ranked as an "Overseer" in Portraet's group,"PAINTING PARTY". The account represents the character Shik inside the story of the game. He is one out of the many god-like beings within the god realm, being associated with Ensui, often by his side as some sort of right-hand man to him. After the death of Ensui, Shik, including Kyu, was responsible for the banishment of Picta and presumably all of the purgatories and punishments Picta had faced. Shik is in a romantic relationship with Kyu. Picta despises him for his treatment of her before and after Ensui's death.

Sphearical

Sphearical is the second account ranked as an "Overseer" in "PAINTING PARTY". The account represents the character Kyu inside the story. Same with Shik, he is also frequently associated with Ensui, being another sort of right-hand man to him. Kyu was there with Shik when they both banished Picta for murdering Ensui and all of Picta's punishments that followed. Kyu has romantic feelings for Shik. Picta despises him for the same reason as Shik.

Prismatomeris

Prismatomeris is the latest account to be ranked as an "Overseer" in "PAINTING PARTY". Similar to the pervious accounts, prismatomeris represents the character Prisma inside the story. Prisma is the goddess of colors; she is the ex-wife of Ensui and the mentor of Picta during her very early rebirth. Both Prisma and Ensui were rekindling their relationship after parting ways, sadly, this never went anywhere as Ensui was killed by Picta shortly after they could have a complete reconciliation. Nothing is known about how Picta thinks of Prisma, but from her feelings towards the rest, it is likely the same as everyone else. As for Prisma, she doesn't think too highly of Picta.

Theories

• Picta is just a reincarnation of ‘Piper’, and the current life of Picta is set in a different world.
  • In ACCENSION, you can see a lifeless body of Piper.
  • The current life of Picta does not match with the human realm that Piper resided in.
  • She may be in a state of belief that she was trapped in a Portrat, but how do we know this is factual? What if she can’t remember her death. Normally those reincarnated can’t remember their past life correctly, but despite this it is possible through remembering through various memories. The portraits she controls are actually her memories and she is in a denial of false memories.

• Piper is presumably a Christian.
  • In the reference sheet of Piper and Picta, various other piper art and her roblox avatar, Piper wears a cross necklace.
  • There is a crucifix inside Piper's bedroom in the 2th painting RECOLLECTION.

• Piper suffered with some sort of mental illness, supposedly schizophrenia before she became Picta.
  • In the RECOLLECTION painting, a letter from Piper's mother could be found in the kitchen, which mentioned Piper hadn't come to pick up her medication from the pharmacy for quite some time. This suggests that Piper is experiencing some health issues.
  • There are many cat paintings scattered around Piper's apartment in RECOLLECTION that was created by the artist Louis Wain, a painter speculated to have been suffering with schizophrenia. This hints towards the connection that Piper has schizophrenia.

• Shik and Kyu was the reason behind Picta having a sticky note as her left eye.
  • From the drawings and sketches Picta has made, she had a normal left eye before and during her rebellion against Ensui. Only after that did her left eye get replaced with a sticky note one, suggesting involvement from Shik and Kyu, as they were the ones who came to stop Picta's rebellion and her imprisonment soon after.

Trivia

• In character, Picta uses she/her pronouns, while outside the myth, the creator uses he/him pronouns.
• The creator prefers to be separated from the Picta myth and the myth community when outside characters.
• According to Picta, her age is somewhere around 127 years old.
• Portraet won 4th place for Best Gameplay and 1st place Best Avatar at the RMD Myth Awards.
• According to Picta, their game was inspired by the games "Ib" and "Spooky's Jump Scare Mansion"^[1].
• Portraet's group "PAINTING PARTY" used to be named "PAINTING PURGATORY" before being renamed.
• Most traits Piper had were inherited by Picta, such as both of them being right-handed.
• Picta says that she has 2 forms of herself, one being 3D and the other being 2D, which acts similarly to a hologram, the latter being seen inside the game as an NPC that players can talk to. The reason for this is that Picta wouldn't waste having to be physically in the gallery at all times, so she created a 2D form to replace her.
• In one of the many drawings Picta shared. It's confirmed Picta is canonically 4'10.^[2]
• Picta claims her favorite kind of sweets are fruit flavor candies; she is also midly ellergic to milk.
• The design of Picta's horns and sticky-note eye are different after tape 3; apparently there is a lore reason as to why this is.^[3]
• On February 11th, 2025, Portraet hosted an art competition inside her new Discord server, where people had to draw Picta dressed up as the character Monika from the visual novel video game "Doki Doki Literature Club!". The original plan was to conclude the competition on the 20th of February, but it was delayed to March 9th. All winners have had their art displayed inside "The Gallery."^[4]
• During April Fools' Day of 2025, Picta released a new painting called "Conundrum" for "The Gallery" as a joke. It was later removed shortly after.^[5]
• Picta was planned to be a killer for a Roblox asymmetrical game named "ExpungedMind"; however, as of the time of writing, most traces of the game have seemingly disappeared online, and the current state of the game is left unknown.^[6]
• Before creating Picta Portraet as his third myth, the creator had made around 5 other myths throughout the years of being in the myth community. One of them is an undocumented myth named KIBBLE.
• A reference to Portraet can be found inside the Roblox game "Sonnets" by Concertae. She can be spotted as one of the many plushies that Concertae owns.^[7]
• Another reference to Portraet can also once be found in the now-unreleased title "the last few leaves" by Alilaleif as a portrait of her being with Alila.
• Picta pronounces Christmas as "Pictmas" one time around the December of 2024.
• Portraet has gone through many variations throughout "The Gallery's" inception. The earliest one we know is very different from the Picta we know of today, with a different outfit and appearance entirely, while still keeping a painting theme. This earliest version is called "beta Portraet" by Picta and was originally going to be male instead.^[8]
