Pursue The Mind, Pursue The Memories.— Bhindism

Bhindism (officially pronounced "Behind - ism") is a highly popular abstract style myth that deals with themes of psychology and mental trauma. They are known for their unique myth game 'The Mind' and is known for their high level of recognition across the myth community. They are also known for other projects they have participated in such as 'Myth Federation' and 'The Myth Podcast'.

Biography

Bhindism appears to be a character with unspecific or unknown psychological trauma that traps them within their own head. As a character, they appear to suffer from a form of dissociative amnesia, as the mind has removed large parts of his memories in an attempt to suppress the trauma, making him almost a totally different person of who he once was. This is represented through their games, in which their mind (aka The Mind) is displayed as a desolate wasteland with mere thoughts, abstract objects, and fragmented memories.

History

Bhindism joined Roblox on 18th March 2023, he created his main myth game, 'The Mind' on the same day. Shortly afterwards he created his second game, 'The Garden' on 26th March 2023, a side game of his myth.

After the release of their games, Bhindism quite quickly gained visits and recognition, quickly gaining connections with other well known people in the myth community. Bhindism would then continue to further update his game 'The Mind' and expand it.

On 6th July 2023, Bhindism, along with Mekbok, TOWNGOS, and Stuffion_Youtube created a group called The Myth Podcast, a podcast aimed at talking about various subjects on the myth community. The group was highly popular and gained large audiences consisting of many big names in the myth community, and even saw the return of previously inactive or retired significant individuals in the myth community. RM_Holder2, the holder account of Roblox's Myths at the time, was also known to of joined the game on multiple occasions. The Podcast occasionally brought guests onto the show to join in discussions, one of these was Aticaus. The podcast was ended around a month later.

Appearance

Bhindism has a simple, plain avatar, consisting of only Snake Slate Hood with Gray Old Cape, along with all white pants.

Personality and Traits

Bhindism has been observed to be both jolly, interactive and good hearted, but can also be secretive, silent, and cryptic. He is known to be helpful to hunters by providing them subtle hints on how to progress with the story within the game.

Abilities

Bhindism is the follower of a deity within his games called 'The Star'. He marks that this 'Star', believed to be the spawn point, is all-powerful. Bhindism sometimes tells people not to do certain things, because of the Star, and if people refrain from it, a neon-red pillar shoots from the sky and smites, or "Seizes" as he personally calls it, the person being targeted. "The Star knows its limits." Is a phrase he often uses after smiting someone.

Games

The Mind

The Mind is Bhindism's main myth game. It is a vast, white void with a mountainous landscape with various random, but some what meaningful, objects and buildings scattered around the game, or "realm" as Bhindism calls it. One of the various but notable things the player can find scattered around The Mind is a small shack with a ball with a face inside it named "Sullivan", or "Sully" for short. Upon talking to Sully, the game will tell you that Sully is lonely, and will ask if you can help push him towards another further away building to where another female ball name "Sasha" is. If the player accepts and successfully pushes and gets Sully to Sasha, a cutscene will play showing the two balls uniting, and the player will receive the badge "A Compassionate Journey". Another thing the player can find within The Mind is a cage with a Red Glowing figure inside of it, known as "The Creature". There is a note on the side of the cage instructing not to let it out, however in doing so, The Creature will attack and kill anything that comes near it.

One of the most notable and arguably most important structures in The Mind is a bridge leading to a giant, strange structure to one side of the map, which appears to be some kind of portal, called The Threshold. Around it is four pillars surrounding it, all with a note describing each of the games that the player can reach within the mind. These pillars work as keys, and to activate them the player will have to say a secret code. When the code is said, the pillar will start glowing and sending a beam into the centre of the portal. The portal has been described by Bhindism to "restart the loop" which appears to be the main goal of the myth.

Currently three out of four keys have been discovered, the first key is "Pursue The Mind, Pursue The Memories", for The Mind's pillar, the second key "The Star knows its limits" for The Higher Plains pillar, and the third key "The old hag grows closer" for The Paths pillar. These phrases are primarily found in the games that the pillar correlates to, they can also be found mostly everywhere Bhindism talks, as well as in the games description, on their group, and on their discord server.

There are also many many notes scattered all across the game which appears to be notes about all the different landmarks and objects and personal thoughts of the person, Bhindism, that resides here. Though Bhindism says that he did not write all the notes, and some of the notes were already there when he arrived in The Mind. He says himself that some come from the Star itself, as a form of setting its boundaries clear.

There is a large pillar near The Mind's spawn that stretches up into the sky that when climbed, takes the player to a place known as "The Higher Plains", where a being known as "The Man Up Above" appears to reside, inside a small temple like building. When "The Man Up Above" is interacted with, the player is given four questions he may ask him, all of which give clues and information to the myth's lore, the most prominent of which is the second key. The player can return to The Mind by simply jumping down.

Another subsidiary game is "The Path", which can be accessed by going through a portal in a temple like building on one side of the map. (Note this game only works for Computers) The game is a 2D perspective styled horror game, and possibly the first myth to have done so. After emerging from a portal within the temple, the player spawns as Bhindism himself with only a lantern in hand, on a dark gloomy path. After walking for a set amount of time, a cutscene plays showing what The Man Up Above called, 'The Old Hag'. The cutscene consists of a slow zoom in over a huge dark humanoid, with an eerie smile who is husked. After a set amount of time the word "Run" Appears all around the Hag, and the player can start running back to the portal which the player arrived at. If the player fails to run from the hag, it crashes their game and plays a very loud scream on repeat until the player closes the app.

There are three sections of the path:

  • The Forest, Which is a small area with a dark gloomy view filled with trees
  • The Cave, Which is a huge cave, surrounded by dripstone, which makes you walk over small narrow bridges to cross the section
  • The Ruins, Which is an area filled with destroyed buildings, planks, cages, etc. This is the area where 'The Hag' Appears.

The Garden

The Garden is another one of Bhindism's games, it would appear to be a game where events may be held. It has a relatively similar setting to The Mind, being a flat, white void, the main differences being the different contents scattered around the landscape, as well as a light yellow tone to the game, as opposed to The Mind's pale white tone, suggesting a more friendlier environment than The Mind. The game mainly consists of structures such as a stage and various rounded pavilion summerhouses. Bhindism has confirmed that there will eventually be a way to access it via The Mind, rather than it being a totally separate game.

Ratiocination

Ratiocination is Bhindism's group. It has a game named "Cave-fe |🎙️"[1]

Relationships

Arithmec

Arithmec appears to be the only other real living person within The Mind, how she got into Bhindism's Mind is currently unknown. Bhindism and Arithmec appear to be the best of friends and appear to share residency within The Mind together. Bhindism has said that his relationship to Arithmec is that they are friends.

Sullivan

Sullivan is a sphere in The Mind that has another sphere partner known as "Sasha". Sullivan and Bhindism are quite close, this has been confirmed.

The Man Up Above

The Man Up Above is a mysterious being who resides within The Higher Plains. Bhindism refers to him as "Old Friend". The Man Up Above seems to be a sort of mentor to Bhindism, often giving Bhindism advice whenever he needs and asks for it.

The Star

Throughout the myth, an entity known as "The Star" is often mentioned. Bhindism himself often mentions about "The Star" which he says is where he came from. "The Star" seems to govern The Mind, and also seems to somewhat be the ruler of The Mind. Some evidence of this is that Bhindism says it's what's keeping him from exiting The Mind and dying. Its said to be all-powerful, and Bhindism both fears, and follows it.

The Old Hag

The Old Hag is thought to be the main antagonist of the myth, due to it being referenced various times throughout the myth, and The Man Up Above warning Bhindism to "keep distance from it", as well as being one of the only hostile entities within The Mind.

Theories

  • The Old Hag has something to do with why Bhindism is trapped in The Mind.
    • The Man Up Above has referenced "A small, old and pale grey hag --- bringing the disease with her", while it is not 100% clear due to some of the described features not exactly adding up, it may well be the case that this is referring to The Old Hag in The Mind, if so, The Old Hag may have something to do with a disease, and this might quite possibly be a reference as to what caused Bhindism to be trapped in his Mind; due catching a disease.
    • Another theory is that The Old Hag is a representation of death.
  • The random structures, objects and beings scattered around The Mind are to do with Bhindism's life and past.
    • There are various structures and objects scattered around The Mind, such as a Lighthouse and Office Cubicles, these might be fragmented references to Bhindism's life, what was in it and what it was like before he was transported to The Mind.
    • The same could be applied to all the various different people and beings within The Mind, such as Arithmec, Sullivan, Sasha and The Man Up Above, all representing important people in Bhindism's past life, while others such as The Creature and The Old Hag, who are less human like, could more represent certain concepts rather than people that were in Bhindism's past life.

Trivia

  • Bhindism and Arithmec often say their quote "Pursue The Mind, Pursue The Memories.", which is also the first of four keys to open the liminal threshold.
  • There are currently 3 planned sub-games of The Mind including The Path, The Higher Plains, and The Temple, plus an extra bonus game where events are held, The Garden.
