Don't tell me what to do for he shall come to determine your fate.— MonikaAkariMonikaAkari is a young adult who has become wrapped up with a cult serving a god by the name of “Luctus”. Interested in the evil aura of the church, she began investigating them which evolved into her being proclaimed as the “Messiah”, and a violent confrontation. Their game, “Church A”, is the second chapter to the “Home of the Unstable” myth group, which utilizes exploration and simple puzzles.
Biography
MonikaAkari was an average person who lived at their apartment in Japan by their lonesome, with the occasional visitation by a good friend, Johanna. Her childhood hasn’t been described but as a young adult, she doesn’t have much of a relationship with her parents. This leads into her therapeutic visits which she doesn’t seem to want to keep up with, despite bad hallucinations and the request for stronger medication. While bird watching in the Luctus Park some day, she came across a flier for the Luctus Church. Details are uncertain regarding whether she involved herself with Luctus for help with her conditions, or if she found interest in the cult out of curiosity. Either way, she quickly found herself being proclaimed as the “Messiah” for the god, Luctus, and was invited to the church located at Luctus Park.
Eventually, when she arrived at the church, violence transpired as she began attacking numerous cultist members with the apparent purpose of killing Luctus. Despite the proficient fighting skills shown by MonikaAkari, Luctus made quick work of her defeat for the purpose of making her his “Messiah”. Therefore, she was placed under possession in the basement of the church. Fortunately, Johanna quickly realized her friend’s disappearance, so she searched for her with the assistance of an RMH investigator. When all clues led to the Luctus Church, they sneakily made their way into the place. However, Luctus unexpectedly noticed them and took care of them while Monika was possessed. Johanna ended up being in critical condition so the RMH investigator had to save Monika from the possession. After they escaped, Johanna passed away from her injuries and Monika swore that she would take down Luctus while saving those he would attempt to harm.
History
MonikaAkari joined Roblox on October 14th, 2021, along with a Discord account. They were created with the intention of continuing, the yet to be formed, “Home of the Unstable” experience begun by KuruttaKise. Development for “Street H” was still being polished over during this time, so MonikaAkari didn’t publicize themselves until sometime in December, 2021. Their Discord account was abandoned in November after joining RMH Myth Development when the account was first created. However, a showcase photo of the church was posted by Kise in RMD at this same point. Alike KuruttaKise, MonikaAkari mostly interacted with the myth hunting group, Robloxian Myth Hunters, and their aforementioned myth development group. She ended up reaching the Upcoming Myth rank in RMD on 7/18/2022 and Qualified Myth on 4/20/2023.
MonikaAkari made their game public for anyone to visit on December 24th, 2021. Originally, this place was named “Forest A” until it was eventually adjusted to “Church A”. As the church was being built, another myth by the name of The_GreatDevourer offered to assist with some scripting of the “Church A” mechanics. There weren’t any recorded notable interactions with MonikaAkari leading up to the summer of 2022, when the game had mostly been finished. While development was wrapping up and MonikaAkari began becoming slightly inactive, the next chapter appeared. RivenCharlotte joined Roblox on July 17th, 2022, and the “Home of the Unstable” continued onwards. This resulted in MonikaAkari briefly logging onto Roblox only a few times per month following the summer, only for the purpose of bug fixes.
Many minor updates and changes were made to “Church A” throughout 2022 and 2023. This ranged from fixing small glitches to adding badges to collect via completion of an objective. However, there were two major updates in particular that increased the quality of “Church A”, and caught the interest of hunters. The first was a revamp to the map with additional cutscene details that were attributed to foreshadowing. It is said that this update was released on March 10th, 2023. The second was the “Endless Time” badge which provided more insight on the “Home of the Unstable”. It appears to have been made on June 17th, 2023, and was slowly discovered in the following months by hunters.
Appearance
MonikaAkari has a fashionable, eldritch outfit that consists of many unique accessories. She wears a “Dark Brown Plaid Dress” with a “Victorian Dress” bottom, the “Shadowed Head”, “Brown Short Messy Hair”, “80s Hanging Suspenders”, “Black Victorian Earrings”, a “Black Duffel Bag”, and finally the “Pentacle Star and Moon Phases Wide Brim Hat”. Altogether, this presents a confident and ominous young adult.
Personality and Traits
MonikaAkari has presented a confrontational attitude through her high levels of confidence in stressful situations to the typical person. This is despite her apparent young age and inexperience with danger, from what is known. How they interact with others when in-game is unknown due to a lack of records. She is also a very focused individual considering she may have let herself be recruited in order to destroy the Luctus Church, and then wanting revenge against Luctus immediately after Johanna passed away.
Unfortunately, she suffers from hallucinations and needs to regularly see a therapist for medications. It is unknown if any traumatic events caused this condition, as it came before direct contact with the Luctus Church, but it may involve her poor relationship with her mother.
Game
Church A
“Church A” is the second place in the overall order of “Home of the Unstable” games, which expands upon the strange demon-like creature shown at the end of “Street H”. It features exploration of the forest and small puzzles inside the church, with additional cutscenes to show interactions between MonikaAkari and the cultists.

When the player spawns into “Church A”, they will find themselves on a road with a collapsed cave blocking the exit. In front of the incident are some cars with two people waiting by them. They will present themselves to the player as “Enisha”, a band that was supposed to have a concert that night before the cave collapsed. The player should also immediately notice that there is a map of the park they are stopped at. There are three mapped locations at “Luctus Park”; a waterfall, “Chosen Lake”, and a church dedicated to Luctus. The waterfall has nothing of importance to its landscape, however, directly behind the pond that emits blue radiance is a grave hidden in a dark part of the forest. Interacting with it will notify the player that a broken hand watch lays next to it with “Mattias Schnien” written engraved on the back. This discovery will award the player with the badge, “Endless Time”.
“Chosen Lake” doesn’t have much importance either besides an NPC known as “The_GreatDevourer”. Before continuing to the church, the player should travel down the road that they began on in order to find a loose note from RivenCharlotte, apparently left for hunters. This note gives some background information on Luctus’ antagonistic role in the “Home of the Unstable”. It may also grant the player the “WARNING” badge. Following the map, the church should be found in a back corner of the map. Unfortunately, the door is locked so a key must be found. Another broken down carriage is on the left of the door, with a note and bucket. The paper reads: “I hear the bell rings every now and then.” Oddly, the bucket can be picked up and then used at the mysterious well to the right of the church. This will capture a key from the bottom of the well which can be used to open the entrance of the church. Once this is done, a cutscene will play where the doors burst open as the player tries to open them, causing them to fly back while two red eyes briefly stare at them from the inside of the church. They will then be teleported to the inside of the church.
Despite the Luctus Church being based on some deer god, the inside of the church is quite calming and open. However, there are some splashes of blood spread across the room. Captain_Mise sits on a bench eager to speak to the player after the doors broke open. They will simply explain their observations of the church after hunting. The bench behind them has a note with “Swinging, falling, dancing, twirling, swirling… imprisonment.” What exactly this text means or is referring to is unknown. To the very left of the church is an apparent locked door with no visible way to open it, but there is a powerbox by the front row of the benches. This object does need a key for it to be opened, which can be found underneath a stone arc next to the closest pillar to the locked door. After the power box is opened, the player will need to find a code. The first pillar to the right of the entrance has a piece of paper slipped underneath it. It reads “Why was I chosen”, but on the back it has the code “1998”. Once power is given to the church, a platform will lower near the entrance which will act as an elevator. This will give the player access to the planks at the ceiling that can be traversed. At the end of them is a white bird that chirps and cheeps a specific pattern. Using a morse code translator, the word, “Libertas”, can be made out. Libertas is the “female personification of liberty and personal freedom”. Therefore, if the player says “Freedom”, the locked door will open to reveal a staircase to a basement.
Before continuing, the player may grab a lantern to see through the darkness. When they turn the corner to the basement, they will first notice a white orb dot across the room towards a vent. There are more splatters of blood across the floor and walls here while a note lays in the middle of the room. This ominous note says, “HIS NAME WAS LUCTUS”, with “LUCTUS” being highlighted in red. Near the vent that the orb dashed to, a door will appear if that name is said. The following room contains a jail cell with a note in the middle. Once it is picked up to be read, four ghosts will spawn in the corners of the room and then attack the player.
This event will teleport the player to the outside of an apartment. Inside are a few small rooms with obvious inhabitants. Strangely, the vent above emits sound as if somebody were crawling through it. The main room has one notable item, that being a safe that can be interacted with. The next is a bedroom that is littered with an interest in birds. A “Luctus.zed” poster sits on the desk alongside a laptop that is already logged onto. Multiple information centers can be accessed through here. The first is an Email inbox that contains both personal and spam letters. One email even contains the code for the safe: 4372. It will be made apparent that this is Monika’s laptop and apartment. Her Discord account may also be accessed where a Luctus server can be seen along with the HU support server. There are two messages left inside the Luctus server. The first is a message encrypted through base64 but translates to “We got her! The Messiah! We’re coming to the church right now!”. The second is a message from Johanna asking if they know what happened to Monika. A third action can be done on the laptop by going to Goggle and typing in “Luctus.zed”. This should open up a site about the Luctus site explaining their god. Exiting the computer screen, the aforementioned code can be used to gain access to a screwdriver. This can then be used to open up a vent to the ductwork, causing Johanna to fall out.

After the dialogue with Johanna, the player will begin climbing through the vents with her because they are the only place that goes somewhere. While climbing, the player can view moments where MonikaAkari is killing cultists in the church. Then, they will come across the last one where MonikaAkari is crying after being beat up, and a figure who seems to be Luctus, stands in front of her. As the cutscene plays, Luctus realizes that the player is watching, so he grabs them out from the vent and attacks them. The player will wake up in a room in the church with MonikaAkari floating in front of them. Two cultists sit by the pedestal and pray to Luctus and her. Johanna sits against the wall, clearly, very severely injured. She can be spoken to but she will just make note that the entity was Luctus and that she is down for the count. To save Monika, the player will have to go to the music box in the corner and interact with it. They must open the box and then turn the handle until it comes off. This music box key can then be used on a keyhole on one of the pillars. This action will open a hole in the wall where the bird from earlier lays dead. It can be picked up and then given to Monika to release her from the ritual. A burst of energy will emit from Monika as she is released. Finally, Monika will tend to Johanna and the player will be able to escape from the church.
Once the player arrives back at the start of “Church A”, they will note they now have that bird in their inventory and some odd sphere sits in the road. It can be interacted with so that they can be teleported to another game. This place simply takes place in a field with a single grave dedicated to Johanna. Monika stands over it as she has a monologue with herself about what is next to come. This is the interpreted end to “Church A”.
Groups
Home of the Unstable
“Home of the Unstable” is the support group that formally connects MonikaAkari to KuruttaKise and RivenCharlotte. It is owned by KuruttaKise but Monika has the ability to control shouts through the “Monika” rank. She hasn’t interacted much with others through the group wall nor anywhere else.
Relationships
Johanna
Johanna was MonikaAkari’s best friend who became worried after her disappearance. In an attempt to find her, she broke into Monika’s home to find clues that led her to the Luctus Church. Unfortunately, Luctus ended up getting to Johanna and severely injuring her, later causing her death after they escaped from “Church A”.
Luctus
Luctus is an evil deity or God that MonikaAkari is attempting to fight against before it completes whatever ritual against humanity it is trying. Possibly because of this bravery, Luctus chose Monika as its “Messiah”. What effect this will have on her and the rest of the “Home of the Unstable” is unknown.
KuruttaKise
MonikaAkari does not have much of a direct relationship with KuruttaKise besides being friends with him and being ranked in his group. However, MonikaAkari is seemingly searching for him hence why she makes an appearance at the coffee shop in “Street H”.
Theories
- MonikaAkari will attempt to save KuruttaKise and then destroy Luctus.
- After the entire fiasco that occurred at “Church A”, Monika had a realization that she needed to stop Luctus and save the others who would be harmed by him. Considering that she killed a bunch of cultists already, it is likely she plans to kill this god.
- Within the cafe of “Street H”, MonikaAkari can be seen sitting at a booth with the apparent intent of finding KuruttaKise. Perhaps they may find Kise in the basement and somehow save them from Luctus.
- KuruttaKise is assumed to be in the basement of the cafe since the camera pans to the staff room and then the basement during the “HU Centre” cutscene. Since Luctus’ hallucination probably takes place inside Kise’s mind, his brain must still be active and alive.
- Additionally, Monika has had experience with being possessed so perhaps she will have an idea of what to do in order to save him from Luctus’ trickery.
- The hidden grave within “Church A” for Mattias Schnien represents the death of that identity.
- Mattias Schnien was the apparent founder of the “Home of the Unstable” foundation who gave up ownership to Isaac Edburt in 1931, the same year that it was seemingly founded. This is displayed at the “HU Centre” along with Hikaru’s teddy bear.
- The cutscene that plays there shows some sort of portal opening up at the display case for the bear as Isaac Edburt runs to it and screams “MATTIAS”. This therefore proves that Mattias Schnien is not dead, assuming this takes place after the events of “Church A”.
- Alternatively, due to Mattias Schnien’s grave being within the “Luctus Park”, perhaps his “death” just had something to do with the cult that had formed there. This is whether he was directly killed by the church or his death caused its formation.
- Otherwise, since he may be alive, he may go by a different identity with the Luctus Church since the identity of Mattias is dead. The only logical identity that is known, that has the power to create a portal, and has reason to take possession of Hikaru’s bear, is Luctus. Therefore, it is possible that Mattias Schnien became Luctus after that grave was made.
- Mattias Schnien was the apparent founder of the “Home of the Unstable” foundation who gave up ownership to Isaac Edburt in 1931, the same year that it was seemingly founded. This is displayed at the “HU Centre” along with Hikaru’s teddy bear.
