Bad manners make for bad guests.— Chuck_LloydChuck_Lloyd is a popular myth associated with the Roblox's Myths Shadelight Investigation. Chuck_Lloyd was created in mid 2016, but didn't become an active myth until late 2017. He continuously became more popular throughout 2018 and 2019, due to his coverage by Flamingo and the lengthy investigation by Roblox's Myths into him and his associates. The original Chuck_Lloyd storyline became inactive in 2020, although the account has been known to sometimes appear online.
Ownership update
According to the site owner's update, ownership of Shadelight has been removed from Kazdam and transferred to new owners. The current owners' identities are not public.
Biography
Chuck_Lloyd was supposedly a war veteran who fought in World War II according to several accounts.[citation needed]He had a wife named Sandra and a daughter named Louyen. It is known that she is afraid of her father, as when she and Speedy are in a game with him, she secretly tells Speedy that he needs to protect her from him.[1] Louyen states that she was stabbed, kicked down the stairs and locked in a basement by an unknown man, who is presumed to be Chuck. This same man supposedly knocked down a door and stabbed her mother, Sandra, with a hatchet.
At some point, Chuck died to mysterious circumstances. Despite this, he is still "alive". He has stated that he relives the same day where he died everyday.[2] At the start of the day, he is somewhat "reset", acting more neutral and forgetful. But as the day goes on, he becomes more aware of his situation, being able to discuss Shadelight. The portal to Shadelight is contained in his basement. The reasoning for this is unknown, and the effects of this are unknown too, although Chuck's place has a lot of paranormal activity which could be caused by Shadelight. This includes ghosts[3][4], floating orbs, and a scarecrow, which can sometimes have glowing eyes.
History
Chuck_Lloyd was created on June 22, 2016. After this, Chuck_Lloyd would go inactive for around a year, until November 23rd, 2017, when Chuck would create his game "Lloyd Residence".[5] Five days later, on the 28th of November, Chuck_Lloyd would upload a model titled "Self Portrait", which is a model of Chuck_Lloyd's avatar.[6][7] Later on December 6th, some important developments related to Chuck_Lloyd would occur. Firstly, Chuck would upload his model "Lloyd Residence", which appears to be an exact copy of the Lloyd Residence place.[8][9] This appears to imply that the game was created on this day. Additionally, the sub game "Reality", then called "Nighttime", would be created inside of the "Lloyd Residence" game on the same day. A day later, the "Chuck_Lloyd" render for the Roblox's Myths Containment Facility would be uploaded onto the Roblox's Myths group.[10] This obviously implies that Chuck_Lloyd was apart of Roblox's Myths, although we do not know this for a fact, as there is no documentation proving this fact.
After this, on December 18th, 2017, two more models would be created by Chuck_Lloyd, titled "Door" and "The Portal" respectively.[11][12][13][14] The game "Chuck's Basement" would also be created.[15] This was also the same day where "Lloyd Residence" was last updated prior to mid 2018.[16] On December 31st, Chuck_Lloyd would create the sub game "Shadelight" inside of "Lloyd Residence".[17] After this, Chuck_Lloyd's history is a little unclear, as there is no documentation related to Chuck_Lloyd during January of 2018. In February, two videos related to Chuck_Lloyd would be created. The first, titled "Chuck bans Ulifer", is a short clip of Chuck_Lloyd banning Ulifer, upon him joining "Lloyd Residence.[18] The second video, titled simply "Chuck." contains a clip of several hunters surrounding Chuck_Lloyd in his game "Nighttime".[2]
After this, the next documented major event related to Chuck_Lloyd would occur on the 29th of May, 2018, when Flamingo would upload his video "ROBLOX'S SCARY MYSTERIES".[19] In this video, Flamingo would briefly play Chuck_Lloyd's game. After this, Chuck_Lloyd would update his game on the 23rd of June. This update would change Chuck_Lloyd's house to be messy, with objects being knocked over and shelves now falling off the wall. After this, on the 26th of June, Flamingo would upload his video "ROBLOX... AN INVESTIGATION.".[20] In this video, Flamingo would go into more detail surrounding both Chuck_Lloyd and other Shadelight myths, such as Ulifer. Only three days later, Flamingo would upload his next video, titled "Meeting ROBLOX's most disturbing user...", in which he'd meet Chuck_Lloyd.[21]
Later on July 12th, Flamingo would upload his third video related to Chuck, titled "I went into his disturbing Roblox basement...".[22] This video featured Flamingo going through "Chuck's Basement" alone, as he tried to discover secrets. This video also featured a glimpse into "Shadelight", which was revealed to just be a gray baseplate. It was later stated that this was a "fake" Shadelight, and that the real game wouldn't be accessible until later. On July 19th, 2018, Speedy2662 would upload his video "MEETING CHUCK LLOYD'S DAUGHTER", in which the character Louyen was introduced.[1] After this, Chuck_Lloyd wouldn't be updated again until October 18th, 2018, when the model "My fan" was uploaded onto the Chuck_Lloyd account.[23][24]
After this, on November 14th, Chuck_Lloyd would radically update his account. This started with the upload of the revamped "Lloyd Residence" game.[25] On this same day, three other games would be created, those being a second "Chucks Basement" place, a third "Chuck's Basement" place, and a second "Shadelight" place.[26][27][28] An audio would also be uploaded onto Chuck's account, titled "The Basement".[29] Four days later, Flamingo would upload a video titled "My most unsettling Roblox experience... this video made him angry.".[30] This video featured Flamingo having a sleep over with Chuck. This video would also feature him discovering the "shed key", "shovel" and "basement key" gears, which are all used to progress in "Lloyd Residence".
Another four days later, Flamingo would upload the second part to this first video, in which Flamingo would play the "Chuck's Basement" game.[31] A month later, on December 20th, the YouTuber "Jayingee" would upload a video together with Chuck_Lloyd.[32] During early 2019, Chuck_Lloyd would not be especially active, as no major documented activity relating to him exists apart from a message sent to Flamingo on February 18th.[33] Soon after though, Chuck would become active again. On March 16th, Flamingo would upload his sixth video pertaining to Chuck_Lloyd, titled "Roblox's strangest player was caught doing something really weird...". This video would feature both Flamingo and Speedy2662 having a sleep over at the Lloyd Residence. In this video they would also enter the basement with Chuck, where he'd introduce the duo to the skeleton of Sandra Lloyd. A day later, on the 17th of March, Jayingee would upload his second video with Chuck.[34]
After this, no major developments would happen within the Chuck_Lloyd myth until November 2019. This is when Flamingo would upload his last video about Chuck_Lloyd, titled "Roblox "SHADELIGHT"...".[35] This video featured Flamingo meeting Goldity for the first time. Here, Goldity would give Flamingo a mission to meet FatherGrimm so they can get Ulifer's key. This wouldn't mission wouldn't be followed through with though. On this same day, Chuck would create a gamepass in the "Lloyd Residence", titled "Key Ring!".[36]
On August 2, 2020, Speedy2662 released another video about Chuck.[37] The video teased a timer counting down to October 1, 2021. The original storyline became inactive before that countdown was completed.
Appearance
Chuck_Lloyd's current appearance consists of a light green skin tone, with the "Suit" outfit, the "Sinister Zombie" hat, and the "Elder" animation package. This combination of items makes Chuck seem like a old man, just as he wanted others to perceive him as.
Personality and Traits
Chuck was a very optimistic and bright man when he got his sleep. He was also an organized person but was very paranoid and anxious about his surroundings. He had been very friendly towards hunters when not under the negative influence of Goldity. Chuck is said to have been passionate about his wife, Sandra, whom he might've murdered in the past. He often mourned about his wife's passing when he was alone, as well when he saw Sandra's ghost around the house.
Due to events involving the myth, Goldity, he had sometimes under the influence of him, which caused some skirmishes between him and myth hunters found on his property. Although, Chuck seemed to be conflicted about trusting Goldity, therefore leaving him to trust Speedy2662 instead. When he was influenced by Goldity, he immediately turned hostile towards myth hunters and forced them to exit his home and off of his property. He watched them from a distance to make sure that they are at bay, and if hunters are roamed in his house, he would yell at them or punish them. When someone upset Chuck, he'd often start saying "Bad Manners make for Bad Guests" over and over. This is because he was very "neat" and "specific" about things. When he was in deep stress and determination, he'd attempt to finish things himself.
When Chuck did not get his sleep, his paranoia and anxiety grew more along with his hallucinations. He tended to wander around and tried to avoid shadows in his house. During this time, he would whisper to certain players. Chuck_Lloyd grew more aware of his surroundings and how his life was in danger, and became extremely dependent on the myth hunters or Goldity whenever endangered by the shadows. These shadows have been proven to be a ghost of a woman from his past, possibly Sandra.
Games
Lloyd Residence

Lloyd Residence is a popular myth game, created on November 23rd, 2018. The game is among the most visited games within the myth genre, having a total of nearly 8 million visits as of the April 2026. Upon joining, the player will be met with a gray house on a grass plate. In front of the player, a large corn field with a scarecrow can be seen. Behind the player, the aforementioned home can be seen. Behind the home, a green shed can be found next to a small field of crops. Upon entering the home, the player will be in the living room. To their left, a hallway leading to an office and Chuck's bedroom is found. In this bedroom, a bathroom is seen to the left, and a closet opposite it to the right. This closet has a hidden door, which can be opened leading to a small room. This room is filled with boxes, and has a staircase up to an attic. Going back to the living room, the player can also walk straight forward from the front door, leading to a kitchen. This kitchen has a locked door; behind this door is a teleport to the game "Chuck's Basement".

In order to progress, the player should travel to the hidden room inside of the closet. In this room, a small key can be found, which opens the shed. In the shed, the player can find a shovel. After attaining the shovel, the player should look for a crow, placed somewhere in the top right corner of the map. Upon finding this crow, the player can use the shovel on it, which causes a short cutscene to play. After this, the basement key will be placed into player's inventory. From there, the player can enter the basement by using the key on the door found in the kitchen.
The player can alternatively also find an attic key. This is done by approaching the scarecrow while their eyes are glowing, and saying "Sandra my love" in the chat. If done correctly, an orb will fly out of the scarecrow, and will be placed at a predetermined location. After touching the orb, it will disappears, and an attic key will spawn in front of the scarecrow. Using it on the door find behind the closet will open the attic, where the player can find a coffin. In some versions, the player could use exploits to gain a "coffin key", which would open the top half of the coffin. Inside this coffin, a dead body can be found, which may be Sandra, although this does not line up, as Chuck has claimed the skeleton found in the basement was Sandra.
In earlier versions of the game, the map was similar but more simplified. The house only had three rooms: a living room/kitchen, a bedroom and a bathroom. In order to get to the basement, the player previously had to go into the shed, which wasn't locked behind a key, and press a button found on a wooden crate. Upon clicking the button, a small gap would open in Chuck's bedroom, leading to the basement area. There also used to be a teleporter, which could be found in a tree. This would take the player to a white glowing room with a black, disfigured crow, that played rigid nursery music with crow noises in the background. Chuck used to talk to the figure and says that the teleport is similar to his dreams and thinks he’s dreaming every time he teleports in there.
Chuck's Basement (unavailable)

Chuck's Basement is a subgame, found within Lloyd Residence. Previously, the game could be reached by finding a hidden button and opening a gap to the basement hatch, while in the current version of "Lloyd Residence", the player must use a series of items in order to open a door to the basement. Upon joining the game, the player will be placed inside of a small room, with many boxes, washing machines, water heaters, and a staircase. In older versions of Chuck's Basement, leaving the basement would lead to a game titled "Nighttime", which was a version of the old "Lloyd Residence" game, but at night. Currently, it just sends the player back to regular "Lloyd Residence". Normally, it appears that this room is closed off from any other areas, although if the player says "Darkness incarnate", a hidden door will open, leading to the basement. This map is a large maze, featuring many hallways and smaller rooms, apart from the main ones.

Placed throughout the map, several large rooms can be found with the symbols of Shadelight myths. These rooms must be opened using a one word code, pertaining to each myth. Upon entering any of these rooms, a pedestal with the myth's accessory will be found in the middle of a room. Clicking these pedestals will open up a textbox, where the myth's code should be put in. Currently, only two codes are known, those being "Darkness Incarnate" and "A darkness in the light". The other codes were intended to be found later, although the Shadelight myth ended before this could happen. Opposite of the initial room on the other side of the map, a large hall room can be found. This room contains the portal to Shadelight, although it has never been successfully opened due to the needed codes not being implemented. On the sides of the hall room, multiple statues of Him can be seen, holding orbs.
In the original version of the game, the basement was far smaller, only containing two rooms apart from the initial starting room. Near the end of the map, a series of doors with the each myth's accessory on them would be found. The player would need to say the right codes in order to reach Shadelight. In this version of the game, three codes were known, those being "Darkness Incarnate", "A darkness in the light" and "The eyes will go first.".
Relationships
Sandra Lloyd
Sandra is Chuck's wife and Louyen's mother. She is believed to have been killed by Chuck while she was trying to protect Louyen. Despite her being deceased, Chuck can often be seen talking to Sandra. Louyen does the same, even stating that she could see Sandra in front of her. Sandra's remains are believed to either be laid out on display in Chuck's Basement, or in the coffin found in Chuck's attic.
Louyen
Louyen is Chuck_Lloyd's daughter. Her relationship with Chuck seems good on the surface, but she is known to be afraid of him. She has previously mentioned the abuse she has felt at the hands of an unknown man, believed to have been Chuck.
Goldity
Goldity is a mysterious man who seems to have a good relationship with Chuck. They've been seen together in Flamingo's video "Roblox "SHADELIGHT"...".[35] He said that in all his nightmares, there was always a man who wore a yellow coat and slaughtered five people who wields the keys, who is assumed to be Goldity.
mrflimflam
Flamingo, also known as Albert, was one of Chuck's only friends on Roblox. They collaborated upwards of seven times, with several videos being created by Flamingo related to Chuck and Shadelight. This assisted in Chuck becoming one of the most popular myths of all time. They had a decently strong and interesting relationship, with Chuck often being kind to Flamingo, although he'd lose his temper easily.
Speedy2662
Speedy was another YouTube who went to Chuck's house and contributed to his popularity. His relationship with the myth was a little less developed, but he was the only one that Chuck trusted to keep the coffin key.
Ulifer
Chuck supposedly doesn't trust Ulifer and even called him a "Child Murderer". They don't seem to have publicly interacted with each other before, but acknowledgments were made. Another name Chuck called Ulifer was "The Long Nosed One".
Theories
- The crows are a metaphor for death and Chuck's hatred for them represents his immortality
- Chuck always had a history of hating crows, killing one is even part of the puzzles to get the basement key. However, their presence always looms over him, even in the form of paintings in his house and, at one point, a teleport on one of the trees in the older version of his game.
- Perhaps his hatred for them could represent his incapacity to die, the possibility always being there but him never accepting it.
- The shadows or spirits are people who died in the house before Chuck
- The shadows seem to be connected to the house since they only appear inside. However, there's no clear history of the house prior to Chuck's ownership. Maybe it's been sold to him, maybe he built it himself.
- It's also possible that the spirits come from the temple, or specifically the Shadelight portal as it is believed to be a gateway to another dimension.
- The sixth Shadelight member that was prophesized by Chuck was going to be SubjectPyro.
- According to the prophecy, Chuck was cited to have said that he dreamt of mysterious red eyes. The only person that would've matched this description would've been user SubjectPyro.[citation needed]
- SubjectPyro was also ranked within Roblox’s Myths along with the other Shadelight myths.
Trivia
- Sandra, Chuck's wife, is able to possess the scarecrow in his cornfield.[citation needed]
- Chuck_Lloyd supposedly was planning to break his cycle by watching the Terroah show.[citation needed]
- Chuck wearing the hat "Sinister Zombie" is likely a reference to the fact that he is trapped in a constant loop of death.[citation needed]
- Chuck made a guest star appearance in the YUKC0 Show at some point.
- In the wall opposite to the attic's door, there's Scoobis, a popular Roblox inside joke.
- Chuck is the second myth to have over 3 million place visits in the myth genre.
- Chuck is the second key in the Shadelight Investigation, held by Roblox's Myths.
- Chuck died around 1945, this has been concluded by 1932 being the year Louyen was born and Chuck stating "She would be 13 if she was still alive".[citation needed]
- Lloyd Residence was built by members of the original Shadelight development team, using free models.[citation needed]
- A note on top of a purple cloth can be found in the wheat field, that reads "Hail the king".[38] This is assumed to be a reference to ClausAconite.
- It was noted by Albert that ClausAconite and Chuck_Lloyd were seen in "Lloyd's Residence" together, when the game was private.[citation needed] It's possible that Claus is involved in the Chuck_Lloyd myth, and by extension the Shadelight myth.
