Relationships

Tristy

Tristy Reyes was a native of Seattle, Washington. He was a voracious writer, winning an award for his efforts. However, he struggled with mental health issues for which he needed to take medication. In the vestigial library, he appears to express thoughts that he is worthless, and he cannot come to an understanding of how he can be loved by someone else.

It may seem unusual to define Bailey's relationship to Tristy in the sense that Tristy appears to be the protagonist of the story depicted by D3tectiveBailey - and in myth hunting, it is somewhat conventional to portray the actual myth as the protagonist. However, this is not the case with D3tectiveBailey. In a tweet made by Bailey, Bailey distinguishes themselves as "the author...?", which is who they were when they were 14. The identity "flyday" is Bailey at 16 years of age. Tristy and Rynn are said to be their own characters. Nonetheless, it is interesting to notice some parallels between the name "Detective Bailey" and Tristy mentioning that he wanted to become a detective when he grew up.

Rynn

Rynn is the secondary character of the stories within vestigial library. A playful blond boy and the best friend of Tristy, the two appear to form a romantic relationship. It seems their relationship is threatened indirectly by their local community; based on how Bailey has reservations about getting into a relationship, perhaps the local community (in which Bailey and Rynn live) is not very accepting of LGBTQ+ people. In one of the glowing books, a person (appearing to be Rynn, since the redacted name is 4 characters long) says that they do not know what they want to do when they grow up (in contrast with Tristy, who says that he wants to become a detective)

Trivia

  • Bailey is a part of the LGBTQ+ community.
  • Bailey has several dead bodies and references at the Mythsman Diner.
