I'm not Crazy. Stop calling me Crazy.— SmithCult
SmithCult was a popular myth, known for being one of the first modern myths, and for being the first patriarch of the myth group The Cult Family. SmithCult created his account in June 2012, and would quickly grow in popularity on the Roblox forums. He would frequently post decals of his supposed family on the Roblox Talk sub-forum, while acting insane and inviting users to his games. During 2012, Smith would create several games and decals, prior to going mostly inactive. Eventually, in 2014, SmithCult was terminated.

In his lore, SmithCult was an insane man, likely schizophrenic, who presented himself as a normal man with a family. Despite this, these family members were never seen in his images, and grave stones could be found for both of them. In many of his images, a black figure could also be seen, later referred to as "Martin". Eventually, Smith would kill himself, possibly due to the influences of Martin, or due to his mental health issues finally leading to his death.

Biography

SmithCult was defined as a "Smith": an archetype created by stickmasterluke, representing a normal American man with nothing special or remarkable about him.[1] Smith attempted to present himself as a regular man, with a wife named Martha and son named Brandon. He would post family photos with captions referring to his family, although they were not there. This along with his Roblox description, which mentioned the fact that he was born with mental issues, and was placed into a insane asylum for a period prior to getting out, were early signs that Smith was not sane.[2] In his games and through certain decals, it can be figured out that Smith likely killed his family members, and then hallucinated their presences. It is also likely that he killed more people, as he was known to have a friend named "Steve", who in reality was a hanging corpse.

Soon after Smith returned from the asylum, several photos contained a black figure found in the background. This was revealed to be a person named Martin, who was a childhood friend of Smith, who died in a fire 20 years before the present day.[3] It is possible that Martin was a real ghost, haunting Smith, or yet another figment of his imagination. Eventually, after a month of activity, Smith would kill himself. It is unknown if this decision was influenced by Martin, or if he had simply become too unwell to keep living.

After this, associates of Smith, like Don and GrandpaCult would also die, leaving DavidCult as the last surviving member. This would help lead into newer Cult Family iterations, in which David was an important character.

History

SmithCult created his account on the 29th of June, 2012.[4] Prior to this, in September 2011, the concept of a "Smith" was created by stickmasterluke. This concept describes a completely regular man with no particular personality, wearing a blue outfit with a regular comb over. SmithCult was likely a troll account based off of this concept, due to the various similarities between SmithCult and the original Smith concept.

Only a day after SmithCult was created, he began posting forum posts. His first post, titled "My sons birthday party" contained the first SmithCult decal.[5][6] Following this, many users would point out that there were no people in the image which Smith posted, despite his claims of that being the case. After this, Smith would post a link to his first game, titled "Smith family photo".[7][8] After this, various people would begin hunting the game over the next day, until it was suddenly removed from Roblox.[9][10] This is likely due to the violent contents of the game, including supposed dead bodies.[11] Later on the same day, Smith would upload his decal "Martha".[12][13] On July 1st, Smith would upload six more decals, while sending four of them on the forums.[14][15][16][17] He would also replace his last game, titling the new one "Fishing trip on Boat".[18][19] Late on July 1st, the aforementioned game would be replaced with Smith's next game, "Hang out with Steve".[20] An image which was likely from this game, titled "My best friend Steve" was uploaded, but later taken down by Roblox. This image likely depicted the hanging dead body found in "Hang out with Steve", named Steve.

After this, early on July 2nd, two decals from the game "Fishing trip on Boat" would be uploaded.[21][22] This likely means the game was brought back to coincide with these decals, as users sent links to the game on July 2nd. After this, three more decals were sent by Smith onto the forums.[23][24][25] On the same day, a new version of "Hang out with Steve" was uploaded onto Roblox. This version of the game was documented by BrandonCult and Lewa1269, in the form of a video and four decals.[26][27][28][29][30] Late on July 2nd, a new game would be published onto the SmithCult account. The name of this game is not known, although it was documented by both lewa1269, and the Roblox user "truck1234567890".[31][32][33][34] After this, Smith would upload a destroyed version of the aforementioned game, likely called "They came".[35][36][37]

This game lasted for around a week, and was documented by three different hunters: lewa1269, LargeXxHalostrikerxX and subata. After this, Smith's activity would become far more sporadic, and far less in character. On July 10th, he had some activity, notably playing the game "Abstract Art" by brandonhare.[38][39] On July 12th, he would randomly go on the forums, claiming to be Amanda, the supposed daughter of SmithCult. On July 15th, Smith would send a link to a new game, titled "Happy thoughts", although the contents of this game are not known.[40] Later on the same day, the game "Tomorrow" would be mentioned by user "RichieRich", although the contents of this game are once again not known.[41] On July 22nd, the game "Grandpas house" was first mentioned on the forums.[42] The next day two decals and one model would be uploaded, likely being related to the game. Also on the day, the game would be mentioned again on the forums, and would be featured in a YouTube video by user "monkman161".[43][44]

Lastly, later that same day, the game "End of Days" was posted on the forums by SmithCult.[45] Over the next two days, the game would be mentioned on the forums by users "Zxuul", "luigifan103" and "faker14".[46][47][48][49] Not much is known about this game. On July 25th, SmithCult would upload his last decal for a while.[50] He would also notably be featured in the video "The Story Of Smith Cult *Part 1*", uploaded by "mordecaithebeastey2".[3] This video featured SmithCult answering a few questions, before leaving. On August 1st, the game "Farewell everyone my time has come" was likely created, and would later be mentioned on the forums.[51][52][53][54] This game was likely intended to be the end of SmithCult, as it likely contained him dying.[55][56]

After this, SmithCult would be mostly inactive, sometimes coming online and posting on the forums, but only for a few minutes at most. On December 23rd, SmithCult would begin uploading various decals and models. This resulted in the creation of the game nicknamed "Apartment 214". Much of the information regarding this game is lost, including the game's purpose, history and even name. The only evidence of the game stems from the user "urmom13mom", who mentioned the game on February 25th, 2013.[57] A day later, he would upload a video of him and his friend "holmesr19".[58] Both of these sources were mostly unknown until February 2023, when the YouTube video was randomly discovered by user "alawkwa".

After this, Smith's game would be updated to be called "The Forest". The exact time period where this happened is unknown, although it was first seen in a video from May 2013, by the user "Robloxman444444".[59] In January 2014 for an unknown reason, Smith made five posts on the forums which included a copypasta of someone crudely describing themselves eating food.[60] This copypasta included multiple bypassed uses of the F word, which is possibly the reason why Smith was terminated. This claim is however a bit unlikely, as Smith was not terminated until at least April of the same year. It is worth noting that Smith's game, "The Forest" is currently completely empty. This likely means the game was cleared before or in tandem with his termination. This could mean the game contained inappropriate materials, which Roblox then removed and terminated him for.

In the aftermath of Smith's termination, the Cult Family was left without a leader, and missing active members, apart from Martin and DavidCult. Eventually in 2018, when the MartinCult account was revived by a new owner, The Cult Family would return. This included the creation of many new accounts, including an account for SmithCult, named "SmithCultsSpirit". This account was used for a brief period, until the user "Kazdam" would gain ownership of the account, and remove SmithCultsSpirit.

After this, Smith would often be mentioned but did not have an account of his own, and did not take priority over others. Eventually, in 2022, the character was given a new account by the Cult Family Rebirth group, named SmCult.

Appearance

SmithCults original avatar appears as a bald Caucasian male wearing a light blue suit, using a t-shirt and skin color, and dark blue pants using skin color as well. Mentioned by a user on the forums, he also had a mime mask.[citation needed]

Personality and Traits

Smith presents himself as a kind and loving gentlemen, he could be seen saying many lines taken from the Smith's group by Stickmasterluke (formerly). He would be willing to answer questions that others had for him, however, if others mentioned that his family was dead he would become defensive and even threaten the person who brought up the question. He seemed to be kind generally though and also had mysterious aspects embedded in his character.

Game(s)

NOTICE

A lot of the ideas pertaining to these games are speculative and some of the game titles are conjectural, due to the lack of available information on these games.

Smith family photo (unavailable)

"Smith family photo" was a myth game created by SmithCult. The game was likely created on the 30th of June, with the first image of the game being uploaded on the same day.[5][6] The game only lasted a day, as SmithCult would state that the game was taken down by Roblox, likely due to the contents of the game.[9][10] In total, two decals from the game were posted to Roblox, as well as a model.[6][61][62]

As for the contents of the game, they are not fully known. The layout of the home is fully known due to the reuse of the "Smith Home." model in multiple SmithCult, although exact furniture layouts are not known. The house had a dining room, which contained a table with three chairs located in the middle, one window and two paintings in the room. The home also had at least one bedroom, belonging to BrandonCult. This room had a TV with a gaming console connected to it, a dresser and a large bed with yellow sheets. A forum post by the user "liliamgirl" also mentioned the corpses of two people being in the house.[11] SmithCult would respond to this claim, saying they were "robbers" and that he put them in "a black room" he built. It's unknown if this black room was connected to the home, or a separate structure. It has also been stated that these bodies were female and male respectively, supporting the claim that these bodies were Martha and BrandonCult.

Fishing trip on Boat (unavailable)

"Fishing trip on Boat" was a myth game created by SmithCult. This game functioned as a replacement for "Smith family photo" following it's deletion.[18] It is believed to have been created on the 1st of July, and only lasted two days. Unlike the previous game, there are no models to show when the game may have been active, instead there are two decals of the game, both of which having been uploaded on July 2nd. This supports the idea that the game only lasted for two days before being replaced. It is important to note that the next game "Hang out with Steve" is known to have been active during July 1st and 2nd, overlapping with Fishing trip on Boat. This could mean that the games were switched out between each other during this time, or that the screenshots of Fishing trip on Boat were uploaded after the game had already been removed.

The actual contents of Fishing Trip on Boat are not known, apart from what is seen in SmithCult's decals. These screenshots show one scene with Smith standing on a boat with a fish in the middle of a pond. Behind him is a row of trees with MartinCult standing between two of these trees, and a larger forest decal behind the trees. The second scene shows a similar forest area with a smoking car in the middle of a road and trees on both sides of the road. In the background, Martin can once again be seen. SmithCult's initial forum post announcing the game also mentions Brandon and Martha standing next to him on the boat, something which isn't seen in the decals uploaded by Smith.[18] This could be another example of Smith mentioning his family despite them not being there, or it could be a difference between the game and the decals.

Hang out with Steve (unavailable)

"Hang out with Steve" was a myth game created by SmithCult. The first mention of the game appeared on July 1st, meaning it was likely created around then. The game was mentioned from July 1st until July 2nd, meaning the game likely existed during this time. The game is notable for having a large amount of documentation, including decals by TheIberianClock, BrandonCult, SmithCult and lewa1269.[63][64][65][66][27][28][29][30]

The game itself appears to have had two versions, with the later version have more content. The initial version, shown in BrandonCult's four "dad" decals", feature a simple forest, with the titular "Steve" character, who is a corpse hanging from a tree. One decal also shows Steve on fire, which is likely something which Smith could manually turn on and off. Smith can also be seen wielding a knife in one of the screenshots, which is likely a gear only he had access to.

The second version of the game is depicted in lewa1269's video, and the decals created by TheIberianClock. The main differences in this version are the three red chairs surrounding Steve, theorized to be for the three Smith Family members. There is also a decapitated head near the edge of the map, as noted by TheIberianClock, and a gravestone for BrandonCult. This grave shares a similarity to the one which Martha has in the "Martha" decal.[67] Interestingly, in the lewa1269 video, the map is mostly flooded. This could be yet another thing which Smith can manually manipulate, although it is hard to know due to the lack of documentation.

Notably, the game also shares a resemblance with the games found in the "I love the forest." decal, and the "Me, MarthaCult & icydragon21" decal. It is unlikely that the former is the same as "Hang out with Steve" although the latter could very well be the same game.

The house (unavailable)

"The house" was a myth game created by SmithCult. Little is known about this game, including its name, which has been lost. The game was first mentioned on July 2nd, through a decal created by lewa1269, and three videos uploaded onto the "johnny jones" channel by truck1234567890.[32][33][34][31]

Despite the fact that practically nothing is known about the games history, quite a lot is known about the games contents. The game consists of a large grass plate, with a house, forest and large road on it. The house from this game is the same as the one from "Smith family photo", although the house notably has a different layout. his home has seven rooms, including two bed rooms, a dining room, a bathroom, a kitchen, a living room and a smaller room with a bookcase. One of the bedrooms is a modified version of the room seen in "Brandon Playing Video Games", while the second one is unseen in previous games. Apart from these things, this house doesn't feature anything in particular, apart from a red button in the bathroom, which is supposedly intended to be a teleport, although it is broken.

Walking down the road, the player can find a car which has turned off the road, which is missing its wheels and is completely rusted. On the other side of the road is the same "Steve" model as featured in "Hang out with Steve". The last thing on this main island is a puddle of blood with a teddy next to it, which can be found in the top left corner of the map. It is likely that this is meant to belong to Brandon. Close to Steve, the player could also find a teleport, which would send the player to a shed. It is unknown who this shed belongs to, although it is unlikely to be owned by Smith, as there is a picture of Smith in the shed, with a knife stuck in it. The shed also has a table with a dismembered body, belonging to an unknown individual.

They came (unavailable)

"They came" was a myth game created by SmithCult. It is not known exactly when this game was created, however it is known to have existed from at least July 2nd, to July 10th. This is supported by forum posts, as well as decals uploaded by the users "LargeXxHalostrikerxX", "subata" and "lewa1269".[35][36][37][68][69][70][71][72][73][74][75][76][77][78][79][80][81][82][83]

The game itself is a ruined version of the previous game, in which the buildings have broken windows, the main house is missing bricks, and the shed is completely black (to symbolize it being burnt). The shed also has added boards, which were not in the original shed. Apart from these things, other notable changes are that Steve is decapitated and bleeding now, and the addition of the "Brandon made a drawing" decal to the game, although it's not known where this is. The game also features various "Martin" models, which consist of complete black avatars. It is unknown if these are actual players who were in game, or simply models.

Happy Thoughts (unavailable)

"Happy Thoughts" was a myth game created by SmithCult. Not much is known about this game, as there are no documented images or videos of the game. The only mention of the game appeared on July 15th, in a forum post from SmithCult.[40] This post was made to get others to join him, as the forum title and initial message state.

Tomorrow (unavailable)

"Tomorrow" was a myth game created by SmithCult. Similar to Happy Thoughts, not much is known about this game, as there are no documented images or videos of the game. The only mention of the game was also on the 15th of June, 18 hours later, in a forum post by user "RichieRich". Compared to the previous game, there is slightly more information about the game, as in a response to the post, RichieRich mentioned "the second house", implying the game had at least two houses.[41] Since this game was uploaded on the same day as Happy Thoughts, it's entirely possible that these are the same game, although there is no method of confirming that.

Grandpas House (unavailable)

"Grandpas House" was a myth game created by SmithCult. The first mention of this game appeared on July 22nd, from user "UncoverdTerminator".[42] The next day, a second forum post mentioning the game appeared, and a video of the game was uploaded by "monkman161".[43][44] This forum post was likely posted prior or during the recording of the video, as the user "luigifan103" can be seen in the video. It is possible that the game was also created on the 18th, as "Grandpa's House" model, seen in the game, was uploaded on July 18th, by Smith.

This game is one of four Smith games to have footage of it's contents. Despite that fact, we do not know much about the game itself. The video gives a very limited view of the upstairs bathroom, a very brief view of the main hall, and a third darkened room. In this room, a dead body clearly labeled as "Martha" can be seen, as well as a fully black avatar, who is presumably Martin. The house model seen in this game is actually a free model, uploaded by user "princess1882". This model gives us a clear layout of the house, but doesn't tell us much more about the contents of Grandpas House in particular.

This same model would go on to be used in Smith's penultimate game, "Apartment 214".

End of Days (unavailable)

"End of Days" was a myth game created by SmithCult. It was first mentioned on the 23rd of July by SmithCult, with the accompanying message "I am lonely."[45] The next day, the game was mentioned twice on the forums, by the users "luigifan103" and "Zxuul".[46][47] The next day, the game would be posted by the user "faker14" twice.[48][49] Exact information regarding how long the game remained open is not known, although it is possible that it stayed open until December 2012. The contents of this game are not known.

Farewell everyone my time has come (unavailable)

"Farewell everyone my time has come" was a myth game created by SmithCult. This game was first inadvertently mentioned on August 1st, through forum posts mentioning SmithCult's death.[55][56] The game was then linked on the forums the next day by user "meetthespy863".[51] On August 8th and 9th the game was once again mentioned by the users "lilaroseanna" and "henrycult".[52][53][54]

The contents of the game are completely unknown, as there are no known screenshots or videos for this game.

Apartment 214 (unavailable)

"Apartment 214" was a myth game created by SmithCult. It was likely created on December 23rd, due to several assets from the game being created on this day. On February 26th, 2013, a video would be uploaded by user "urmom13mom", depicting the game.[58] The day before, he created a forum post describing the game and some secrets in it.[57]

The game itself begins on a small green plate, with an apartment building. There are two apartments there, the closest being Apartment 214, and the second being Apartment 214. The first apartment is open, while the second is closed, and must be accessed by jumping through a hidden wall. Beside the spawn point in the game is a black tile, which will teleport the player to the "Grandpa's House" model. As opposed to the version found in the "Grandpa's House" game, this version of the house is quite different, featuring numerous dead bodies, a decapitated "Grandpa", and the number "213" on a piece of paper in the entrance of the house. Beside Grandpa is a small chainsaw, which is likely the tool used to murder him. The head of Grandpa also features the "eye" decal, which is one of the assets uploaded on December 23rd.

If the player returns to Apartment 214, they will find a small apartment with a kitchen, small living room, a bathroom and a bedroom with a closet. In the bedroom there is a model, resembling the models "Crate." and "another crate". As opposed to those, this model lacks a label, so it is unknown if the crate belongs to Steve, Martha, or a third individual. In the kitchen a knife can be found, and on the dining table, there appears to be red bricks, similar in size to robloxian limbs on the table. If the player walks towards apartment 215, they can find a dumpster beside it. This can be used to climb into the apartment through the aforementioned hidden wall, or it can be used to teleport the player to a version of the "Smith house" model. The contents of Apartment 215 are not entirely known, due to them not being shown in urmom13mom's video. He does mention heads being impaled on poles and graves.

The map with the "Smith house" model does not have much of note, except a framed picture with the "213" decal.

The Forest (unavailable)

"The Forest" was a myth game created by SmithCult. The Forest was the last game created by SmithCult prior to his termination in mid 2012. The history of the game is quite uncertain, although it is known to have existed since at least May 2013, due to a video by user "Robloxman444444".[59] In this video, the icon for the game can be seen, although it is quite blurry. It is difficult to ascertain what is in the image, although it appears to be some sort of structure with a red light above the entrance, and a dark image/brick inside. When SmithCult was terminated, his game was seemingly cleared along side it, although it is possible that it was cleared prior to him being terminated as well.

Relationships

BrandonCult

BrandonCult is the son of Smith and MarthaCult, originally mentioned in the decal "Brandon's Birthday" and its corresponding forum post.[5] Initially, BrandonCult was deceased, as he had been killed by Smith, but later on, the BrandonCult Roblox account would be created. SmithCult would initially state that this account was fake, although they would later friend each other.[84][85][86] On July 1st, they would meet each other in Smith's game "Hang out with Steve", which was later immortalized in four decals by BrandonCult and the video "smith cult his game". It is unknown if they met each other more, due to a lack of documentation.

MarthaCult

MarthaCult is the wife of SmithCult and the mother of BrandonCult, originally mentioned in the "My sons birthday party." forum post.[5] Initially, Martha was deceased, similar to BrandonCult. This can be seen from the "Martha" decal.[67] Later on, the MarthaCult account would be created, and would friend SmithCult. They are known to have met each other in game, due to the decal "Me, MarthaCult & icydragon21".[87]

MartinCult

MartinCult was a childhood friend of SmithCult. He was first seen in the decal "I love the forest", as a black figure seen far in the background. He would later be seen in the decals "I caught a fish.", "My car broke down.", "Brandon made a drawing", "Brandon's 2nd Drawing", "Hello." and "go away". He was also seen in the game "They came", as captured by subata and lewa1269. SmithCult would later tell a group of interviewers about how Martin was a friend of his when he was younger, until he died in a fire.

DavidCult

DavidCult was a friend of SmithCult. Originally, David considered himself to be the son of Smith and Martha, although Smith would later state that David was merely a "killing partner".[3]

DonCult

DonCult was the supposed brother of SmithCult. Little is known about their shared history, although Don and Smith do follow each other. There is also a decal, named "My brother and I talk", which is currently unavailable to view. This decal likely contained Smith and Don interacting, although this is hard to know. Supposedly, there was a comment on this decal from SmithCult, but due to comments on assets being removed, it is hard to know.

GrandpaCult

GrandpaCult was the grandpa of the Cult Family, likely being father of either Martha or SmithCult. He was initially depicted in the model "Grandpa" by SmithCult,[88] and would later get his own game, titled "Grandpa's House". This game has been partially documented, and two models which are likely from it have been found.[89][90] A day after the creation of this game, the GrandpaCult account would be created. This account is seemingly unofficial, as it isn't followed by SmithCult, although it is still recognized by most as a real member of the Cult Family.

Theories

  • SmithCult has schizophrenia.
    • SmithCult mentioned multiple times that he was in a mental asylum prior to him joining ROBLOX.
    • SmithCult claimed to have a friend named "Steve", who was a dead body hanging from a tree.
    • He consistently claimed that Martha and Brandon were in his decals despite them not being in it.

Trivia

  • Smith's account was likely terminated for a variety of posts to the Roblox forums made in 2014 where he bypassed multiple swear words, not for his decals like many theorize.
  • It was believed by BrandonCult that every member of The Cult Family created to this day wasn't related to the original Cults, as Brandon, Martha, and Smith were the only members, and other people simply added onto it without their permission, and myth hunters went along with the new members as being actually directly related to the original three. However, due to SmithCult himself being in the Robloxian Myth Hunters group and acknowledging MartinCult, GrandpaCult, DonCult and DavidCult as characters early on. This could be seen as subjective information provided by Brandon.
  • SmithCult's true identity has never been revealed, even to people like jokerkid5898, who have worked with him in the past. However, there have been theories based on posts made on who he could of been.
  • SmithCult was created as apart of the "Smiths", a joke group created by stickmasterluke in 2011.
